Browsing Net outside of AOL...

Hello All..

I have a friend that hasa sony notebook comp.

on it is AOL 8.0 and Win 98 SE

When you dial-up to aol, you can get network access (i can view aol pages, but nothing outside) but you can't browse the internet at all. what's wrong, I have never read or heard anything similar to this.

I have uninstalled AOL, installed again. formated the HD, and installed win98se again, used a PC card modem instead of the internal modem. Used different aol accounts... Im out of ideas...

Any Thoughts?

Call AOL support, they support doing this.

Yes, I just don't want to have to be on hold trying to figure something so silly out. Well if anyone has ideas i'd like to hear them, err read them.

A significant portion of the money you pay for your AOL is for the support.. so use it =)

What's your IP address? Do any internet applocations work? (chat, kazaa, etc)
Can you ping www.yahoo.com?
If not can you ping www.yahoo.com's ip address ?
