Bufalo Router problems!

Well, I bought the WHR-G54s router hearing nothing but good things about it all over the internet. I also bought a matching pci card, i dont have the model name with me but its the buffalo one made especially for that router. So I installed it into the old p3 downstairs, and hooked the router up to my pc. I'm pretty sure I set it up right, because the p3 downstairs sees it. Its usually 47% signal quality. Anyway, I try to connect, and it takes like 15 minutes for it to get an ip address. If it does get it, which is rare, it says limited or no connectivity. I enables WPA- AES protection, and i tried it with wep. Doesn't work. The only thing I could think of is that the host computer is xp sp1 but the p3 is xp sp2 (dont ask). Now I have 100 bucks worth of networking in my home that doesn't work at all, and Im pretty pissed. Any help would be nice...

reset the router..there is a button on the bottom, hold it down for 10 seconds...install the software on your wireless pc...then push the button on the top of the router(AOSS), its very easy to setup...I am guessing you have either mistyped the security key or enabled mac filtering?

Well i would start first with the Router and the client in the same room and make sure that it works well.

If it does then start to deal with distance.

Each environment is different and there might be issues involving your specific environment.

I did the return to factory settings. Now the pc downstairs connects right away. Problem is, I cant access the internet downstairs. When i run cmd, then ipconfig /all, it shows me that everything is alright except that ip routing is not enabled. I have no clue how to enable, as i think that is the problem.

Edit: also, what is a WINS Proxy? because it isnt enabled.

you dont need IP Routing enabled as you are not routing anything.

post your ipconfig /all rather than interpreting it. can you ping the router or other computers on your network?

If the router is still at factory settings, the router is fine. Change the admin password on the router and enable wireless encryption. Next, on the pc downstairs, try pinging the router's IP address. Then try to ping yahoo.com Post your results. Don't go messing with settings that you don't know about (which obviously from your questions, you don't)

Lol, alll i changed was the encryption, and password on the router, the speed (changed it from 54g auto to 54g turbo), I think thats it.

Edit: just returned the buffalo to factory settings again. Changed the name of the router, the password, and the wap aes (not tkip because i dont know the diff). Then i tried connecting and it connected, but still no internet. So i tried pinging, and it couldnt ping yahoo or google ( yes i did do www.google.com and www.yahoo.com). Then i did ipconfig /all. Everything is normal except for the fact that dhcp is not enabled on the adapter. I have no clue how to enable it. I know that it is enabled on the router. The client pc shows up as unauthorized an unable to use 125 high speed.
