I'd get a Tyan Tiger MP so I could an all-AMD chipset and avoid the horrors of Via.

I guess I'd put a second CPU in it since I run Win2000, but I wouldn't use the second for much, but hey this is a dream rig right?

Okay so

Dual AMD Athlon XPs whatever (1900+ the highest now?)
Tyan Tiger K7 MP
512-1024MB PC2100 2-2-2 Crucial DDR.

GeForce3 Ti500 (whatever brand...Asus probably).
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
Intel Pro 10/100+ NIC (maybe a 3Com..but I kinda like the Intel nics).
Some sort of Ultra160 RAID5 capable SCSI card.
ATi TV-Wonder
Hollywood Plus DVD Decoder

2x: 3 36Gig Seagate 15,000RPM in 2 RAID5s (6 total).
2 80Gig 7200RPM IDE Maxtors for backup/storage.
Plextor 12x10x32 SCSI CDRW
Pioneer SCSI DVD (10x40 or 16x40 whatevers fastest).

In an InWin Q500N with a big ass power supply.

My current keyboard which is a discontinued logitech ergonomic that has nice "clicky" keys.
A 2buton silver&blue logitech optical mouse.

A 21" Sony G500 or Samsung 1200NF.

I think that's about everything I need...

You know what, VBboy? I'm sick and tired of people like you giving information like it's the Gospel, when in fact you are totally wrong. Refer to the '2D quality of video card' thread.

And NOS, part of the reason you're on it is because of the level of intolerance you just showed now. A normal person would have just ignored me. But, being like you, you're always up for a fight.

Your right I am always ready to stand up for what I believe to be right and have a real low tolerance for people that spread complete bullsh!t. The funny thing is I have no clear memory of ever having a big run in with you. I can bet you own a AMD machine don't you ? What a Numhead.

If any of your high school+ teachers asked you seriously the meaning of life, would you reply in 1 sentence?

Probably. A smartass one too, then get sent to the office.

<< I believe it's $150K per pair. $300K just for the speakers. The sub towers are $17K each. >>

Three hundred thousand dollars for a pair of darn speakers? I think one company charges $12,000 for a 12' of speaker cables.

I wouldn't buy it even if I had unlimited money.

I'd consider if they can meet all these conditions:

sound as decent as my boombox
100% water proof, aqua regia resistant, gasoline proof
fireproof up to 2500°C
built to withstand explosion equivalent to 3 sticks of dynamite
can hold up in a 600ton hydraulic press.

don't mean to generalize. But people with sigs like MrHelpful tend to be neoAMD zealots that stoop to such childish things as threats in there sigs.

Mr Helpful,

Transparent cables do not match Krells and Wilsons. Yamamura Churchills are better by far.

MrHelpful,

I think you're just trying to score as many posts as you can. No wonder you got that many so fast. Most of your posts are a single sentence. But not as intelligent as mine, though =)

The meaning of life? I wouldn't know, I'm on your 'kill list'.

amature, welcome to ATF. I know that Transparent aren't the best, but I've only got Transparent electrical line cleaners, and an RGB cable with an adapter for computer video cards. I'm not too concerned about the PC video quality.

Lunotick, you bet.

NOS440, I don't mean to generalize either. That's why you're the only target. But seriously, you keep arguing for Intel with points that have been already shot down. I mean, I would like AMD to beat down Intel any time, any day, any where, but if that means a flame war that takes 20 pages of 100 posts each, then I couldn't care less if Intel stood supreme.

VBboy - Hmm? I can really see the greatness of your posts.

<< MrHelpful,

We meet again, my mentally-challenged friend
>>

And clearly, you've never seen my posts (except the ones that involve you), otherwise you'd know that I try my best to help those in need. Do you know who Yucky is? He's my old account, with a Diamond membership. If I wanted to score as much posts as I wanted, I'd just go back to his account.

NOS... um... i find anyone who holds alliegence to any 1 manufacture to be numb-nuttz... but at the momento amd is kicking ass .. but once intel starts kicking ass again.. i'll probably have 1 in my system.

Yes, I do suppose my sig is quite childish, but it will stay there until your behaviour matures.

I was wrong!!! It's $157K for 4 WAMM speakers, not 2. My mistake.

I never intended for people to think that I was referring to what you did in THIS thread - but in your previous posts.

<< There's something around here I just don't understand. Why is it that for the most part AMD fans are so hell bent to convert intel Loyalist ?? Is it that you all feel sorry for your beloved AMD or what ? Is it that your trying to make up for there less than successful Advertising department ? I myself build AMD and intel rigs for people based on what they want. Some of my friends are cheap and want the Bang for the Buck AMD route. Others like the rock stabilty and reputation that intel provides and are willing to spend the extra bucks that it takes. I never try to persuade them from there wants or beliefs. I lay the facts on the Table and let them decide. Most of the time these day's I build about 50% AMD 50% intel. I just don't get you guy's do you really think AMD gives a sh!t about any of us and the same goes for intel !!!! >>

- NOS440

<< NOS440,
You seem to be one of the single, active intel supporters here in this thread, and while that is commedible that you have stood up to us AMD people, you don't really have a clue. I don't mean to be rude, you just haven't stated anything that truley supports you case for intel. Everyone here is saying how nice the price/preformance is with AMD, yet you have not really responded to that. I mean, paying over $500 for a 2ghz CPU that can be matched by a $100 1.4ghz cpu just seems insane. Maybe that is just me, but would you really want to pay that much more? I am not trying to re-hash what everyone has said, but it is the main AMD selling point: build a faster product and sell it for less. Thats it, really simple.
>>

- Spike2756

<< LOL @ NOS

why don't you show me... I own neither a Tbird1200 (though I could cos they're dirt cheap) nor a PIII 1000, so I can't do a firsthand compare myself.... however if I may direct your attention to this link http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/reviews/cpu/amd_thunderbird_1x2ghz/6.shtml you will clearly see the Tbird1200 outpreform the PIII 1000 in 3Dmark 2000 (the Tbrid 1200 is only beaten by the phantom PIII 1133) the site is pretty much as intelbiased as you get without going to intel.com.
>>

- Zephyr

<< LOL@Zephyr
sure it will but that not a fair comparision I think that the people here are not talking about buying a 1.2 ghz there talking about lesser and equally clocked CPUs and Clock for Clock the P-3 beats the Tbird in 3Dmark and in most games in office apps and some Open GL development software the T-bird is faster. Its funny that a 1.13 P-3 even beats a 1.2 ghz and a Oced to 1.2 ghz P-3 would trounce a T-bird badly.
>>

- NOS440, on how clock speed means nothing

<< What most people don't understand about the P-4 is that the design is the only way intel or AMD will achieve the clock speed we are all looking for. Watch AMD follow suit like always and run a longer pipe line to get there clock speeds up to par. Mark my words.
>>

- NOS440, January 8, 2001

<< The p-4 whipps anything that AMD has where it counts in the apps its not doing well anyone with half a brain doesn't care about !!!! >>

- NOS440

<< HardwareAddicted you won't have to lose any sleep becuase it will be a cold day in hell before you see me ever run AMD again !!!!! I'd buy a cyrix 3 first and lurk around here with my head hung low !!!!
>>

- NOS440 (MrHelpful: I DO run an AMD machine, but if I can get a better Intel machine for less I would not hesitate at all)

<< I wonder if Anandtech just added another T-Bird server that's not able to keep up the pace. The forums are acting like they have ever since they started using them, FLAKY >>

-NOS440

<< Besides DDR is way inferior a technology to RDram and should cost less your getting less LMAO!!!!!!! >>
