Build-up on capacitors on motherboard

I've been having problems with one of my computers for quite some time now. I've tried reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling windows and things, but it keeps crashing very frequently. I finally got the time and decided to start swapping out parts to see if I could locate the problem. When I opened my case, I noticed that there was a light brown/orange build-up(rust?) on about a dozen of the capacitors on my MSI K7N420 Pro. Everything else in the case looks fine. The system is air cooled, so there has been no leaking or condensation to cause rusting if that is what the build-up is. I was wondering if this build-up could be causing the instability and if I should try scraping it off. Thanks for any help.

It seems you`ve the common leaking caps problem,only things you can do is either replace the board,send it to MSI to be fixed if it`s under warranty or replace the capacitors with some new ones,this does require some skill .
Btw this will cause stability and reboot problems,my advice is to get it fixed/replaced ASAP.

Yep, iirc MSI does 3yrs warranty 2 years parts and labor and another one year parts. You should be able to get it replaced for the cost of shipping.

MSI will take care of it. I just got a almost 3 yr old back from RMA, they replaced it with a new board of the same model.
they were pretty quick as well.
