At Trump's direction, however, the Justice Department submitted a proposed final rule earlier this year that upended the Obama-era interpretation, and concluded that bump-fire stocks, "slide-fire" devices, and devices with certain similar characteristics all fall within the prohibition on machine guns by allowing a "shooter of a semiautomatic firearm to initiate a continuous firing cycle with a single pull of the trigger," and therefore, they are illegal under federal law.
Under the new rule, bump stock owners would be required to destroy or surrender the devices to authorities. Members of the public will be given 90 days to turn in or otherwise discard their bump stocks, according to a source familiar with the final rule.

What do you think of the video I posted showing someone squeezing off 90 rounds in <30 seconds with magazine changes, no special training or ability. Honestly, what has been accomplished with this ban, and if nothing, why strong support for this? Is this just an emotion-based "I win this one!" from the left? And you wonder why the NRA has become the entity it is today... a reaction to nonsensical leftist emotion based attacks on the 2A.

I think it will remove a product that is obviously meant to circumvent the automatic weapon ban which nearly everyone agrees on even the vast majority of gun owners even a strong majority of NRA members.

I can’t imagine someone using a bump stock for its stated purpose which is if you have a disability or arthritis that is so severe it’s too challenging to pull a trigger bump stocks allow you to do it.

He’s pro:
Background checks
Reasonable limits on gun ownership
Reasonable restrictions on how many rounds they carry
Reasonable limits on armor piercing rounds
Some sort of program to log how has what guns
Seizure of guns from people whom should no longer have them

Is this not a forum meant for sharing opinions on these subjects? The purpose here is not to enact legislation, just a bunch of people bs'ing about politics.

I’m sure someone can practice quick fire techniques, I’m sure someone can practice even more to be accurate with it.
The practice is the key because it’s another point where a plan can fail or hopefully going to a gun range so often they’ll meet a responsible gun owner who may unknowingly get them to re-evaluate their life. Most of the shooters appear to live isolated lives.

Kind of like making a bomb. I’m confident anyone could figure out how to buy off the shelf stuff to make a bomb, I’m confident with a little practice they could perfect their skills but the practice part is where the failure would likely happen.

Did you see any of those videos? There isn't much to practice. One could master this in 10 minutes. I've done similar holding a wooden dowel, but the gun I used only held a few rounds. This isn't a highly trained skill.

Now. Go find me video of someone squeezing off 1100 rounds in ten minutes. Then we can talk. That's 2 rounds every second consistently for the entire time.
