maybe we'll start having some proper food other than donuts at TH's now

yeah i know you look down on BK's food, but TH's food sucks. okay donuts though.
I love TH's soups. Their sandwiches are average, nothing special, but I still consider them a level above BK. BK is pretty much at the bottom among the fast food chains for me, slightly below McD and Wendy's. I don't see it raising the food quality at THs...

I hope it doesn't affect TH's coffee recipe/supplier... that's the best thing about Canada. And 15% corporate taxes.

Whut? Tim Hortons food went to the shits after they switched to frozen semi baked goods in the late 90s. Coffee sucks as well.

How can you blame them or get mad? The entire USA is run by greed and corporations. If there is a way to save money and they have the tax system set up like that you expect them to not use it? Every single one of you would do the same thing. Let's say it was legal for you to get a Canadian PO box and so you didn't have to pay sales tax or property tax or some such, you know you'd be first to sign up.

This country is so screwed though with everyone jumping ship.

BK is supposedly the 2nd biggest fast food chain in America. McDonalds is #1. Somebody is eating that crap.

BK is doing this so they can move their base to Canada and dodge taxes. I don't eat at BK but if I did I would stop!
Were they talking burgers only? The last thing I read said subway was #1

I thought Wendy's passed BK, but nevertheless, you guys are nuts -- Whoppers are delicious. BK's other offerings do suck, however.

And the biggest hypocrite on the planet, Warren Buffett, is facilitating it.

LOL! I bet some of the Buffett boot lickers in P&N will love to hear that.

Would you still eat there if the reason the company was moving to Canada was so they could dodge taxes?

Is what they're doing illegal? Can you point to the specific laws they're breaking?

And yes, I will still eat there.

Are you serious? If the company is producing a good product I couldn't give the slightest shit how they do it. That's business. All of us have heard how awful Foxconn is, but how many people bat an eye about buying a smartphone because of that? It's been out of the news long enough that we don't even care anymore. If you make your purchasing decisions based on the moral compass of a company, you'll never buy a thing.

Burger King is fucking disgusting.

Tim Hortons is wonderful. Great donuts, great coffee. So much better then Dunkin Donuts and yes,.. even Starbucks - especially since Starbucks has changed their pastry selection and added a slew of "OK" sandwiches.

I think BK has far superior burgers than McDonalds. Their $1.49 double cheeseburger is one of the best values out there and it's damn tasty.

Huh, either my BK sucks or my McD is better, as that's not been my experience. The new BK long burger (or w/e it's called) is actually pretty good, but that's the only thing that I've liked at BK in a while.

The couple we have around me are pretty nice. They keep them clean and the workers are friendly, and the food is always top notch. I went to one in South Carolina though that may be what you're experiencing. I got a Whopper and it was the sloppiest, sorriest burger I ever ate. I thought the guy that made it had a personal vendetta against me or something.

Wendy's stepped up it's game recently too. Their burgers and salads are kick ass.

Anyone who talks about "tax inversion" without also mentioning that the US a) has the most screwed-up corporate tax in the world, and b) is literally unique in levying tax on extraterritorial income, is generally not worth listening to.

Oh, actually just checked Wikipedia, and Eritrea also taxes extraterritorial income. So not unique after all. It's obviously a sane policy since Eritrea does it too.

Any active sites for boycott Burger King? If they move their HQ out of the country in order to dodge US taxes I will never ever buy there again. I eat on the road fairly regularly and I must admit an addiction to BK fries (even the now-dropped Satisfries, which were by far the best "healthy" fries ever).

They might bring a job or two to Canada... Someone has to maintain the mailing address for the "headquarters", no?

Probably a few, but nothing to call home about. Tim Horton's headquarters is in Oakville. What I read indicated they wouldn't actually move their headquarters, but just use the Oakville address as their permanent address, or however it works in the corporate world (as you and many others here have suggested).

Despite the loss of tax revenue to the US Government, this is probably a good thing for Americans as it will encourage Tim Hortons to spread through the USA. Not only do you get our sweet timbits, but you'll also get jobs. And decent coffee. These places are everywhere.

Also Whopper > Big Mac

That makes me want to eat there whether I like the food or not so the answer is emphatically yes.

I could never eat Burger King without getting a stomach ache and almost vomiting...

Their food doesn't mix well with me and I am glad they are going to be changed, hopefully for the better.

The only taxes they are dodging on on profits made in other countries. Why does the US govt deserve income tax on profit made in Great Britain or Japan?
