At this point in time, I'm not interested in the 4 points of your opinion. I'm interested in what Rip's ploy is and how I fell for it. That's what you said, correct?
Exactly my point. Thanks for making it Good night!
Huh? You had a point? I mean, other than the fact that you got busted talking out of your ass.
Just wanted to point out to you alchy that I was perfectly willing to let this slide. The original thread got locked and I didn't persue it. You came in here and started it up again. Yet, once again, when asked what you meant, I get nothing from you.
If I may, I think alc is hinting that Rip's "ploy" is diverting attention from substantive issues, thus discouraging productive and informative discussions (stop laughing, it could happen). By making provocative posts, a/k/a trolling, Rip suckers people into flooding P&N with immaterial replies. At a minimum, this dilutes meaningful content, e.g., persuasive arguments that help Kerry or hurt Bush. Even more, if Rip can distract his more intelligent opponents, he reduces the number of effective posts
you make because you're wasting your limited time refuting his nonsense.
In other words, Rip's ploy is to lower the signal to noise ratio, both by boosting the overall noise level and by draining your power to produce signal. Soon the signal is overwhelmed by the noise, and people stop trying to listen. By replying to his posts, you fall for his ploy. Make sense?
In short, do not feed the trolls.
