I disliked button fly having to look down and fidgiting with the buttons to close the hole.. instead I just left the hole open and closed the top waist button and wore a long shirt to cover the hole.

Pull to open button fly vs. pull to open zipper. I don't see how it can be significantly faster. Even if it were -- maybe 1 second vs 2 seconds -- the time you gain being able to unbutton is lost, and then some, when you consider how much slower it is to button back up vs. zipping up.

do you want to get your junk caught in a zipper or not?

This is not a concern for the those who wear underwear.

EDIT: Also, you don't need to undo your belt + top button if you go through the zipper. If you don't have room to manuever your jeans are too tight. <insert joke about being hung like a bee here>. Yeah you have to fish a little to go through the zipper but it's much easier than having to undo belt + top button + other buttons, then re-do all the buttons and re-fasten the belt.

Oh, I used to dream about 5 button pants. Spend some time in the navy wearing THESE and you'll get the hang of 501s in no time. Nothing like being in a hurry to take a leak and have to deal with 13 buttons.

all you do to open a button fly is a single motion. you don't open the buttons individually. so, yes, it is faster than a zipper.

its true though.

once they are broke in all you have to do is open the top and yank. they all come undone. doing them back up is slower then zippers (well unless you get a crappy zipper) but not much slower.

we have no reason to lie about it. its not that big of a deal.

You both admit that closing them up is slower. Unless you walk around with your pants unbuttoned, that counts as part of the process, making zippers faster.

dude once they're broken in you just open the first one and the other ones pull open; it's one fluid motion. however, buttoning them up is a different story.

If the zipper was a technological leap beyond buttons, why stop there? Why not go with the velcro or the zip-loc that they use on freezer bags?

I was just going to post the same thing but I couldn't find a picture. Navy dress blue trousers are definitely a PITA.

I own 2 pair of jeans with button flys. I HATE them, and haven't worn them in forever. Should just toss them. It's easy to rip open but buttoning them is faaaar slower, especially if you've been drinking.

Because neither one is really better than a zipper?

They are just classier. Its like, why have a watch with a dial when a digital tells the time exactly and much quicker to look at?

We don't need to know whats stiff in your pants man! lol

Because it actually is quicker to tell the time with a dial. You have to read numbers with a digital whereas with a dial you are just looking at relative position. But this is a bit OT for this thread.

I guess I'm just surprised how many guys open their pants fully.. that's pretty mind-boggling

It always seems like the jeans that fit me the best have this torture chamber built into them

Just grab the first button and pull the fly apart. Comes undone. In many ways it's faster than a zipper. Just one step.

But you have to undo your entire pair of pants to piss.. which includes unfastening your belt.. isn't that way more of a pain in the ass than just pulling one zipper down?

I have zippers on my pants, but man I don't piss w/o unfastening my belt. I tried that once and it was most uncomfortable. I suppose if you're really small...

Why do people find the need to one-up posts with this stupid ass commentary. I can get my entire fist through my jeans fly, don't even ****** tell me otherwise

Maybe you're wearing girls jeans?

I'm so confused, how do we have so many AT'ers who unbuckle a belt and everything involved when they piss? Why not just unzip the damn thing, whip it out, let freedom ring, tuck away the snake, zip up, and leave?

Maybe most of the people in here pull the pants down to the ankles and take care of business while holding thier tasty juice box in the other hand

Women seem to have a hard time taking off my pants if they're buttonfly. It's kinda my way of getting back at women for every guy who has ever fumbled around with a bra.
