Sadly, I do a lot of graphics work and LCD is a no-no (especially when previously having used a CRT) (please spare us the dual monitor argument <g>)

I'm into graphics, I don't care how vibrant the colours of an image are. If an image has lines through it...there's something wrong with it. I couldn't believe that most people didn't have a major issue with this sort of design. Judging by the way things are going, I guess most people are okay with this design flaw.
Yeah, that wasn't the main reason for not liking them but it sure is distracting when closely judging pics. Somehow it's difficult to judge color-consistency just above and below the lines... And if you want to get a feel for the composition, they also obscure matters a little.

Jo Hel, not to worry. The Eizo F550i-W that I am using at the moment is at least 10 years old and is as bright and sharp as the day I bought it. Eizo IS forever.
Glad to hear that <g> I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't swap my current monitor sooner. EIZO apparently also had an 'F731' that had a somewhat flatter tube. Because I have to admit the curvature of a 19" DOES slightly bother after having tested a couple of flat tube models.
Anyways, I guess my main point was that we are living in a time of technology moving at lightspeed, where it seems to be the golden rule that "newer" and "universally accepted" equals "better for everyone". The whole technological progress argument. But when you find yourself in a situation like this, it's no longer so evident and unchallengable...
