Buying used Sprint PCS phone?

I am looking for a new Sprint PCS phone and since they seem to last me only about 1 year before they break in some way or the other I am considering buying a used one off E-Bay to replace my Nokia 6185 which has consistently sucked.

Any special considerations for buying a used Sprint PCS phone?

any recommendations for models?

1. Don't buy one that has a balance from the previous user or else you have to pay it before you can use it.

there's a good solution to this.

buy a phone with service plan at BB.

during the service plan term that you purchase... usually 2-3 years.
... you can take back your phone for any reason and get credited for the amount that you spent for the phone itself.

i've replaced my phone about 4 times in 1.5 years.

one of the best "low key" deals out there.

it really brings a new meaning to the word "investment".
