Whether you like to admit it, or not, facebook makes it easier to communicate and stay in touch with everyone you have had a friendly relationship with. There's no denying that.

Actually not true, if I go to my friends FB and I have a question for them or something I want to let them know. I post a comment or leave a PM and if I'm lucky they'll be logged on and reply within a few minutes. If I'm not lucky it might take a day to get a response, or longer if they're busy or not the type who checks their FB often. The easiest way to communicate with a person is on the phone. Same scenario but I'm on the phone with my friend, I can ask all the question I have not have to wait any amount time. Phones > Email > some web site like FB for ease of communication. I can't deny that FB is easier than snail mail, but that's about it.

hm, call someone instead of sending a message when the answer is time sensitive. No shit?

Time defeats all stupid social networking sites. Which is every one of them. Each one was more popular than the one it took down, but they all fell at one point. I don't care how big Facebook is, it will die. Maybe not tomorrow, or even next year. But it will die. People will start to see how stupid it is and actually begin to care about their privacy. I remember when Myspace ruled the internet, I remember when Yahoo ruled the internet. 10 years ago nobody was fucking with Yahoo. FB's time is coming, just a matter of being patient until something people perceive as better comes along. And then that will too die when the next big thing comes along. It's a never ending cycle. Twitter will be around longer than Facebook, mark my words.

This may very well be the worst prediction ever made in human history.

So, you'd rather be emailed every time your parents want post pics of the grandkids? I'd rather see the pics thru FB. Or when a friend of mine in England goes to a rock concert and has pics or when my friend in Vancouver just bought his first house then has a kid, etc....

Yes, it may be a less personalized but for a lot of things, I'm fine and prefer it that way.

edit - And with the ability to upload pics from one's smartphone on the fly, FB is great.

I reluctantly used MS a few years ago, and hated FB. Now all I use are FB apps and never use MS. How times have changed.
