I went and signed up for comcast yesterday afternoon and canceled my account by last night. They lied to me about the price, they told me $29.99 and they actually signed me up for $59.99 a month and said there was nothing they could do to change that. and after spending well over an hour with their techs trying to get my internet up and running with no success, as far as i am concerned those idiots can go screw themselves, im now researching DSL.

I hope you have a cell phone, because that's the only way that people are going to be getting hold of you. Both my parents and my sister got roped in by this marketing ploy. Literally 30% of my calls to home and the sister's house don't go through.

Not to mention that the lines are down for outside calling just as often. Imagine if there was an emergency

My parents have since dropped the phone and my sister is looking to do the same. This is in two very prominent NW suburbs of Chicago too. It's rediculous how bad Comcast blows. The only reason I'm not using DSl is because they gave me a one year package deal of Cable TV with HBO and extended channels and internet for 49.99 a month. IMO this is what it should cost, but they charge out the azz to offer these services and people pay for it, so meh...

There's something very wrong with that....unless the promo price was only in conjunction with their basic analog service. I've gotten internet from them for as low as $19.99 a month for 6 months as a promotion.

Anyways, they sent out a flyer for a promo to upgrade from analog to digital for free. 6-months of HBO and Starz for free. I never bothered with Digital because my main TV is SD and I didn't care for pay channels, but now that I have my 24" Gateway LCD I wanted to hook up an HD signal to it. Only $6.50 more per month for HD and a digital box for my SD TV.

The promo was supposed to be for just the internet, which is part of why i am confused. Its things like this why I have always hated Worst Buy and try to never shop there. Unfortunately Best Buy has nothing to do with the competency of Comcast employees. I have dealt with Comcast employees many times over the past 5 years or so and only once did I ever talk to somebody who had some idea what he was talking about. And if there is one thing i have learned from all of those conversations with them, its that no matter what evidence you show them, any problems you have are never their fault.

Lol, so true. It might be worth it though to try a different CS and make sure you're locked in with that promo price. I got that 19.99 rate 2 different times because I cancelled once and tried DSL (they had some $18 a month promo or something). Comcast does suck in general (mostly from a monopoly and pricing standpoint) but their high speed internet service is far superior to anything else in the Washington Metro area.

Funny thing is that when I called to get the promo they mailed me, the first guy I called at 1-800-COMCAST had no clue what I was talking about even though the flyerr clearly said call the 800 number. So he dug up some 888 number and said there were people there that would get me set up. Call the 888 number and the CSR was a step-down for sure. Had to repeat my info because I was saying it too quickly or something, only to find out he had no clue about the promo code I had and that they were running a different campaign that had 1 letter difference. Had his supervisor get on only to tell me to try the 800 number again. 2nd guy at 800 sounded confused at first, but then hooked me up with everything I needed with no problems.

Their monopoly may force me to sign up with them again today for just internet and forget the tv. The tv they have for basic is crap anyway. Anything I really want to watch I download.

when i signed up for Bell South, they gave me a $100 Visa gift card, yesterday I cancelled and then turned right back around and signed up again. SO now they are sending me another #100 Visa gift card, im gonna just keep on trying this. The only thing that sux is it takes like 3 days in between for them to reset ur account so u lose the internet for that long. But for $100 bucks its worth it to me.

I dont even have digital or movie channels. I think I should do the call up and cancel trick?

I just got the Comcast TriplePlay...Digital Cable, Phone, and Internet for $99. You should look into it and at least get the phone included for the same price you are paying.

Wait till the year is up! Dare I say it, cablevision has me for 200/month easy, all 3 and every channel.

Need to check that Fios out, I am pretty sure its in NY. Need to get off Cablevision for cable and telephone. Need a hardline for Alarm Sys. Direct Tv and keep the cable modem. Just do not c it any other way. Gotta switch every 18-24 months.

Comcast sux the royal big one here in south FL.

I get some analog channels included in my home owners fees. I pay $35 per month for a Scientific Atlanta 8300HD PVR, digital, and HD channels. I can't easily get HD off the box to the PC because the firewire ports are shut off etc, only about half the channels actually work, but other than that it's ok. When it was Adelphia they said "We know there is a problem on our end and we won't even bother sending out someone to look at it".

Two weeks ago they pulled a new pipe in the hood. They have not pulled new cable yet however.

If I had FIOS here, I would have hurled the now Comcast set-top box at them long ago. But alas, FIOS does not want to come to SE Florida, whahhhhhhhh!!!!!
