Not in my experience. Usually the only thing I ever see in the air are jets dropping napalm, and AA doesn't help with that. I run SAM as one of my killstreaks because it can sit and take down spy planes for half the round without me having to worry about it. If someone tries to launch anything in the air, it goes down before it's a threat. Including care packages. You can't defend the air with a rocket launcher nearly as well as I can with a SAM.

I always appreciate a guy on the team willing to run SAM turrets. Same with guys who spam spy planes instead of RC-XD. For most of my classes, I run Strela-3 not because of spy planes or CPs, but just in case I spot a chopper gunner or hind. I get so much joy out of downing those things before they can get any kills.

I've been playing a lot of Demolition (for the first time) because I wanted to unlock Ghost and Ninja pro. Anyway, it's extremely frustrating. If you happen to be on a winning team then it's great. And if you are on a losing team, it's terrible. I know that sounds obvious but from what I've seen, the margins are more pronounced, more often, in Demolition than say TDM or Domination.

Also, what's worst is I can't help but feeling that most of the time my teammates are playing TDM instead of an objective game. For example, we are defending and A is already blown up. B is armed and I see green dots going the OPPOSITE direction of the bomb. Most games I feel like the only one rushing the bomb and trying to plant or defuse it. I will say that usually some person in first place on my side will have like some crazy kill ratio like 2:1 or 3:1. I guess they are helping in that regard but deaths all over the map don't really seem that helpful to me. I'd like some guy watching my back as I am working on the target. Usually I'm the only one there.

These people didn't click on Demolition by accident. If they wanted to just do a killfest, why not do Free For All or TDM? Am I overreacting?

You're seeing some insane scores in Demolition because people are generally only in 1 of 4 spots. Their respective spawns or the bomb sites. There's no maximum kill counter and games can last pretty long which leads to epic kill counts from guys who know how to use Napalm Strikes or B52s. Once you complete Ninja Pro or any other perk that requires planting/defusing, demolition becomes fun as hell, given you aren't anal about mission objectives.

Went on a 31 game win streak yesterday with the AVS guys and Buc playing TDM. Out of those 31 games we only had 2 games that were decided by less than 2000 points.

The streak finally came to an end when my teammates were getting bored with winning and decided to use only Olympia shotguns.

Since I got in there late my streak was only at 26. I was hoping to clear the 30 game mark :/

I think mine was like 28, and we ended it by trying to snipe.

Quick question for PS3 players. What is the player population like for BO? Approximately.

Thanks.

Wow! Thats rad. I couldn't get on all weekend with all the xmas stuff going on...busy weekend for me.

Were there a bunch of christmas gifted newbies on there?

How long did 32 games take? Thats a good day of gaming right there!

I think I probably continued a streak from before I left, but taking say, the 25 games that Buc was in I'd say took 4 hours or so...maybe. I didn't get home from vacation until late afternoon and I was off just after 9.

We had one game where we hit the score limit in under 5 minutes and a few others that were just over that.

I was out of town all weekend, but hopped on last night for a few games and I had nothing but great games. The Christmas noobs are here. Its hard to lose even with shitty teammates just cause you can carry the load so much easier.

Totally agree about Christmas noobs. I consider myself an average player and my friend and I could not lose this weekend.

I had no idea this was the case. I guess it shows how naive I am, but I have to say it's extremely annoying and lame. No offense if this is your strategy but it's the very thing I am complaining about. Demolition is an objective based game and you say it's a lot of fun "if you aren't anal about mission objectives." WTF? Why are people playing it if not for the objectives. For the high kill count? That's really lame.

Yah, but you waste a whole ks slot for something that you can be carrying and the Sam Turret, similar to a care package, is something that you have to manage in the middle of the game. You gotta make sure you're at a secure location and the enemy can't come by, murk you, and take it. So, it's just as much a pain as trying to find a spyplane in the sky.

Good thing about objective based games is it racks your XP up pretty quickly provided you do a decent amount of killing and the objectives.

BTW:

Is it just me, or are spy planes invisible sometimes? I hear Ice Cube say an enemy spy plane is up, but I can't find the damn thing for the life of me and I ended up getting whacked. I'm sure I look like a moron because I'm staring into the sky looking for that damn thing.

Each map usually has a spot in which the spy plane will away show up. The ones that i know of, in radiation, they tend to show up towards C site(considering you are play domination).

In Firing Range, they tend to show up towards C site as well, if you can spot em from there, you can see them behind the portables or all the way in the back.

Nuketown, just look towards the sides. Jungle, behind C site as well, i go all the way behind that tent where the sky is clear, you have to catch em at the right time.

Couldn't agree with you more.

In fact, I've called in about 1700 spy planes myself. It is a permanent killstreak of mine. I got a bunch of buddies that think they're all good enough to consistently get to the sr79, but getting to the spyplane early in the game is so much more vital.

So, I usually run spyplane+napalm+chopper... Once in a while, if I'm feeling really good, I'll substitue napalm for dogs or gunship, but I never remove the spyplane. Hate people that equip the cobra..such a waste of airspace. Can't blame those that just prestiged though as it's a default ks.

So the "spawns" for the intel aircraft is always the same spot in the sky? Any different in TDM?

Don't quote me on this, but that's typically true from my experience. The one that I usually have the hardest time with is the spy planes on Jungle, so much cloud everywhere on that map. Also, although it's dark up, spy planes are typically easy to find in the night sky of hanoi.

I hate when people shoot down my spyplane. It's like, "hey, I thought I had a spyplane up, then crap.. they must have shot it down". Also, people that run ghost mess me up all the time as well. You're looking for that red dot on the mini map, and bam.. just got tagged by the ghost.

I mostly play objective maps, it's no problem getting packages. Sometimes I even roll sentry gun as my third so I'm dropping packages all the time.

Believe me, I understand the frustration since I dealt with it trying to unlock Ninja Pro, but that's because I was primarily focused on getting the bomb down before my teammates did. When I play now, I put significantly less emphasis on getting the bomb down since you're very vulnerable while planting. I enjoy roaming the map to get my kill streaks (Napalm, B52, chopper) all three of which can easily turn the game in your teams favor.

No idea, I haven't played TDM in a while, i'll turn on the PS3 in a little bit and let you know later on. Having overclock issues at the moment with the PC.

Finally got my damn gift card from BB from some old games I traded in. Got more from them than I could have sold them for but it took forever. I need a break from GT5. Off to BB to pick it up.

Still lame.

Your killstreaks are meaningless because there still needs to be someone risking their ass trying to plant the bomb, and that's still too rare. Killstreaks might get a lot of kills but theyre only on the map for mere seconds and then enemies respawned again. I don't care how much you think you're "helping" the team with your killstreaks, because simply put, a team focusing on the objectives vs a team farming killstreaks is going to win every single time. It's just incredibly frustrating to be the guy that actually wants to win when your entire team isn't willing to step out in the line of fire to back you up.

I wish they would make it so random kills just didn't count for anything in the objective modes. No XP, no k/d, not even keeping track. Anything to keep lame people like you away from what would be otherwise fun game modes.
