So it's been about a month, now that the initial shine should have worn off for everyone, how's everyone feel about the game in general at this point?
I'm certainly still playing and enjoying it, but I still feel that despite it's flaws, mw2 was overall more fun to play. In many ways BO is a better game, but it has this bland feeling compared to mw2. I've never really warmed up to the maps, and I find the cookie cutter yet wildly imbalanced weapons to be a complete turn off. Right off the bat I feel like lmgs, snipers and shotguns have no serious place in the game, and amongst smgs and ARs there are few real choices.
The power and difficulty of attaining the pro perks, the simply better high level weapons, and the smaller level cap have really ruined the fun of prestiging for me, and in turn my desire to play the game at all.
I've sensed a certain amount of mw2 hatred leading up to BO, but looking back, the only real game breaking flaw in Mw2 was the overpowered killstreaks, and at least then there was a barebones mode that got rid of the problem entirely. There are still a fee ugly perk combos such and Oma/dangerclose/noobtube. But it really wasn't that prevalent overall. To me, the foundation of the game has to be weapon balance, and every class was viable in mw2. You'd see rpds where you don't ever see rpks in Bo. Snipers, shotgunners, smg rushers...they were all there. In Bo it's just famas and ak74us everywhere.
Building up to release I really thought this would be the one to prove that treyarch isn't the b-team, that they really get it. But sadly I feel it's still the case, and without the real IW, where does CoD go from here?
