My favorite assault rifles are the Commando, Galil, Enfield, and AK47 (in that order). The only thing I think the Galil lacks is decent sights.

Yeah the sights suck on the Galil that's for sure. I pick up a Commando whenever I can. I love everything about that gun. I handles well and looks like a badass.

Well realistically what good is a mic if everyone chooses to mute you? Maybe you think it's their problem but chances are you're using a mic to absolutely no effect.

i only use it when playing with people from work or AT, neither group really cares. i dont care if randoms mute me. i mute close to 100% of them

Commando is as close to a MW2 assault rifle as it gets.

The Aug is great if you can control it's left-to-right kick which I find hard personally. I've decided I don't like the FAMAS at all. It looks good on paper but the Galil is still my go-to gun. It's kick is straight upward which I find easier to manage. If I could control the Aug as well as I could control the Galil I'd use it exclusively.

The galil isn't straight up, it's up and to the right. It has the exact same recoil directional values as the famas. The famas technically even has less recoil per shot, but the faster firing rate makes it seem a little worse.

The aug ak and commando also have the *exact* same recoil per shot, only difference again is the aug fires faster. Theyre all balanced left to right so it should average in an upward direction.

I guess one could make a case that the slower firing rifles are easier to handle, but that should only matter if you're aiming after you're shooting. If you aim first, the famas and aug are blatantly superior. The bullets will fall in the same pattern as the slow rifles, they'll just do it faster. I'm starting to fall more on the aug side myself since the recoil is balanced, but I still use the other rifles for funsies even though I know I'm gimping myself.

There's nothing to like about the enfield though. It's the worst of all worlds.

Guess it's a different play style, I prefer a slightly lower ROF. I didn't like the Enfield at first but whilst playing a game using the FAMAS I ran out of ammo and picked up an enemy's Enfield and it worked alot better for me than the FAMAS.

As for the FAMAS and AUG being "blatantly superior if you aim first," at close range that would be true. At medium-longer ranges the extra ROF and hence felt recoil makes it more difficult for me to get hits.

On paper this may be the case, but I've done rather extensive testing in private lobbies with all of the weapons and the Galil shoots in a near perfect vertical line. Whatever the case may be, I find it more controllable. The famas is all over the board, whether the cause be more recoil or higher rate of fire.

I'm a very stats-oriented guy, but Den's chart only tells part of the story. The overall feel of a gun is a complex animal that's influenced by recoil, return to center, rate of fire, and a slew of other factors that are all working together and against one another. A gun whose return to center and rate of fire are in harmony is generally going to be superior to one with just a higher rate of fire or even less kick and recoil.

Is there a way to turn off others people mics? These asshats playing music is really starting to piss me off.

You can change your settings so you can only hear people on your friends list and everyone else is automatically muted. That setting is on xbox.com and can only be changed through a web browser (not through the console). A bit extreme but it's totally effective. Just make sure everyone you do want to hear is on your friends list.

It looks like officially matchmaking, sounds, and spawns are improved/fixed. I played a bit last night and noticed the sound changes, but for whatever reason the matchmaking system couldn't put enough players in a single match to start a Mercenary TDM. There were 22K some players in MTDM, but I just sat in the lobby for several minutes waiting for enough people. Regular TDM and FFA were fine though. Hopefully this gets fixed - I don't like playing regular TDM without a party. Inevitably I get put against a good team that actually works together :awe:

Here's the unexpected change: they are doing an experimental/trial reduction in knife lunge range. It's never hurt me too badly, but I know a lot of other people were unhappy with the knife range.

The knife auto locking is a lot better in this game than in previous CoDs. I know I've missed knife stabs here when I would have killed the guys in MW2.

I never have trouble killing from a distance, but up close when I use the AUG, I always get out gunned by the FAMAS or the AK74. I don't have the AK47 or the Commando yet, but the FAMAS is my go to gun. Distance shots I always burst 2-3 rounds then burst again so my recoil stays under control.

I wish I didn't have to give up Ghost to get Scavenger... I run out of ammo always around my 7th or 8th kill. Getting my 9 kill streak is getting annoying. Thankfully, I can usually pick up a spare weapon as my secondary, but when I can't I am SOL. Having a launcher that only locks on holds me back.


I also have started to hate Jungle... The only times I've played this map are after joining mid game and the team I am on is getting dominated and spawn killed.

Yeah, from the COD forums. Just the PS3 and Xbox 360 got patched.

Agree...just wish they would finish fixing the matchmaking before they start on the little stuff...who cares if you prestige in Combat Training?

It's not that you Prestige in Combat Training. It's that some were using a glitch to Prestige there and have that carry over to the main multiplayer.

I really hated it in BF1942/BF2 when people would bunny hop all around the screen when a gun fight started. Now the same thing is happening with these dolphin dives. I understand that from a real life perspective, this is a perfectly acceptable strategy (crouch, prone, dive to minimize exposure), but it's really annoying to me. When I see an opponent, I think we should shoot it out. Sure, run around a corner or crouch behind a car. That's cool. But many of these players instinctively dive the moment they see someone. It really bugs me for some reason.

Adjust your play style then. I don't understand how people get pissed at the way others play and develop tactics. I don't see many dolphin divers because it's not really an acceptable strategy, because it gives your opponent at least 1-2 seconds to kill you. You just need to be ready to move your reticle down and track them.

It's pretty awesome the amount of stuff they can fix on live servers without having a client-side patch.

Yeah, they must be downloading quite a bit of data from the server, prob why it seems to take much longer than previous cods to connect once you hit xbox live.

Has anyone else noticed that setting the game to auto boot to multiplayer doesn't seem to work properly? If I dashboard out and reload it'll go straight to mp, but turning on the console the next day itll bring me to the campaign/mp/zombies select screen.

To be honest almost every time I run into someone doing the dolphin dive, they end up dead due to the slight delay to their shooting time. Almost all encounters are over with very quickly and any delay in getting a shot off should get you killed.

I noticed the setting didn't save the first time I saved it, not sure why. I set it again and seems to be working now.

I always find myself aiming at people's feet when I shoot them now, just in case they decide to crouch. I don't see it as widespread as you described though
