Matchmaking has been flawless for me since the patch on the 360. Party system still isn't great, but joining randoms has been quick and painless after the patch.

The party system is fixed for me, the issue is once you get your party into a game, matchmaking has trouble finding enough people to start the match. It's awful...

pretty sure cracked is my least liked map for any game type. it plays too well to campers and i fucking hate campers. seriously IMO if you stand still for more then 10 seconds a giant beacon should appear on the map telling people where you are

I feel this is a little excessive. If you're guarding a specific point, there is no reason to keep running around. If you're just looking at one doorway on some obscure portion of the map, however, you should just be auto killed. "Camping" the points on Domination is what makes you win games. It is called defense. I find camping a lot more annoying on TDM where I walk through a door and some guy is in the corner, prone, watching one door for no reason other than to get cheap kills.

Agreed. Personally I don't even mind it in TDM because if they're camping a spot with a decent view of everything it's easy to kill them too. If they're in an odd area then they probably won't get as many kills anyway. Camping does get pretty bad in hardcore mode though, and it was my favorite mode in MW2. Now not so much.

Hardcore is all about camping, which is why I don't play it. I played it a bunch in COD4, but disliked it in the following games.

yea it was an exaggeration, and im not talking about people who are holding a room by themselves monitoring 2 windows and stairs, that's actually pretty hard to pull uff for a long time, im talking about the people who sit in a corner and never move and just point their gun at the 1 opening/view they have

Just tried to play Domination for the first time. It was on cracked. That map is now my least favorite, taking the place of Hanoi. The B flag has to be in the most retarded spot because you have to be COMPLETELY exposed if you want to cap it.

Hanoi is still my #1 shit map, but yeah, Cracked is right behind it. Both maps make me feel like I'm playing the campfest that was MW2 all over again. If they come up in the rotation and get voted I head for another lobby. I don't even waste time with them anymore.

yea i really dont like Hanoi either. however i do find it funny that when i do play it the other team seems to do nothing but zerg towards that house behind the bus. like fucking clockwork, and its easy as shit to kill them because of that.

I think Havanna is my fave map with firing range, WMD, and Grid right behind it. Launch is also decent as well as Array, Nuke town is also very fun in small bits

I totally agree. Hanoi is so fucking frustrating because people just sit in these dark corners in the most remote spots on the map. You spawn and take two steps and get picked off by some fucktard who takes you as his first kill 5 minutes into the game. At the end of the game he has 4 fucking kills because that's how many poor saps spawned in his little corner.

I played a ton of hardcore in COD4 and loved it. But it was AWFUL in MW2, but then again I thought the entire multiplayer experience of MW2 was awful.

I haven't tried HC in BO yet.

Grid is a GREAT map - very COD4-esque in its design. Firing range is fun, but along the lines of Nuketown. I enjoy it but don't want to play it very often. I'm getting the hang of WMD. I always appreciated its flow but for whatever reason I've had problems with it until recently. Array and Summit are also 2 of my favorite maps. Launch is interesting in that it seems like it was almost developed by 2 different people. One half is very prone to camping while the other half is a totally different (better IMO) experience.

By and large I'm happy with the maps in the game. Crisis is borderline and Jungle is okay once in awhile. Oh btw I also like Havana. It reminds me of Crossfire which was a fantastic map in COD4.

Hanoi is a pile of shit.

Also matchmaking is a pile of shit. I was playing with a full party last night and I think we played against a full team once. The game simply can't fill in unused slots.

Yeah, I noticed that if you get into a full lobby and play a game and then people start to leave, eventually that lobby will not fill back up and you have to back out and search all over again. It's pretty annoying.

I hate Jungle with a passion. Mostly because I always do so poorly. I have no idea what it is about that map, but I always do terrible on it.

That map is so great for chopper gunner. I went 71-3 on that map in domination because there's really nowhere for anyone to hide.

Weird, I think jungle is one of the few decent maps. That and grid, firing range and nuketown. The rest are just a total fucking mess.

Agreed, if you don't have Ghost Pro when someone gets a chopper you are essentially out of luck. Thankfully it's always someone on my team who gets said chopper when we play that map.

Maps I like:
  • Nuketown
  • Grid
  • Jungle
  • Summit

Maps that are alright:
  • Firing Range
  • Hanoi
  • Array
  • Crisis
  • WMD
  • Havana
  • Villa

The only one I can't stand (off the top of my head) is Cracked, Launch and Radiation hover somewhere between so-so and dislike.

Then again, when I first got MW2 I hated all but 2 or so of the maps and I grew to like most of 'em.

Cracked, Hanoi, and Launch are garbage maps.

I <3 Nuketown, but I haven't seen that map *once* in the last ~5 hrs or so of gametime... not sure why :\

How are maps like Array, Summit, and Havana messes? Heck - you could almost take Havana and overlay it right on top of one of COD4's most popular maps, Crossfire. Array has great fights for control of the center building as well as fights all around the perimeter. Summit is all about CQB and has some really nice choke points. Villa is a little more open than I'd prefer, as it's only a few design decisions away from being a sniper's paradise and campfest, but they didn't quite cross that line thankfully. It's a rather playable (if not a little dull) map. But jungle? Man... people camp their ASSES off on that map.

I agree they're similar in layout, but they don't play the same.

They're in two different games, so no, they don't play the same... but both do a great job of funneling action along the sides of a long street. Identical, no... but very similar and in a very good way. There are "key points" along the both sides of the street and it's very tense (read: suicidal) trying to dart across to the opposite side. Like Villa, I think Havana is a little boring from an aesthetics point of view. But it has all of the mechanics of a great TDM map.

I like maps where camping will get you killed. Maps like Crossfire and Havana give campers a false sense of security. At first glance it seems like there's oodles of hiding places, but there are also oodles of paths to those places. I've knifed so many chumps in the back on that map it's not even funny.

Now a map like Jungle where anyone can just slip back a few steps and blend in with the brush... no thanks.

Anyone run the FAL or M14?

i used the FAL for awhile. I like it in the more open maps but as soon as i got into closer range i just got my ass handed to me by the faster firing guns (SMGs, famas, galil, ect). I still pull it out every now and then on array and jungle buut for the most part i just cant do well with it on the other maps. My finger isnt fast enough to fire fast enough in closer ranges.

Same with the M14 though i didnt use it hardly at all. Waited for the FAL since i loved it in single player.

If you approach from the side of the hill OPPOSITE the Army truck & red building, there is a steeper slope and you can go prone & be out of range of anybody camping from the red building or anything. You're still vulnerable to explosives and people coming up from the other side of the hill or from the buildings to your left & right, but it's a pretty safe place. To be clear, approach B from the "Bus Street" - see callouts here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEyV4rb-pGg

I just played a game of Domination there and luckily had a pretty aggressive team. We were able to keep B most of the match and I was able to spend some time picking off the enemy team than worrying about flags as much. Damn that was furious and fun!
