Well I will start by saying I have an epox rig (4BDA) and while it is nice and allows me to have the system you see below I think it is a POS....

First off any real ocing on an epox 4BDA mobo takes a wire mod if you want anything above 1.65v due to the extreme undervolting...

Second it is by far the pickiest I have seen with ram...My old kingmax ran 410ddr on asus mobo with 2.7v but would only run 380max with damn lowest settings and 2.8 or 2.9v didn't matter...wasn't going any higher...Theguy I sold it to put it in a non epox mobo is doing 400mhz again...Pure crap I tell you....My corsair I feel is limited with this board.

Third my corsair pc3200 will boot from a cold start on command at 2.64ghz with 440mhz ddr...then run prime for 12 hours until I stop it....If I try a warm restart chances are it wont start and I can't reset it...takes a power up cold start to get it to go....I raised vcore above historically stable levels with non 400mhz ddr and no matter the vcore no go....Obvious mobo issue here...If it were PS it would have crashed or errored out during prime95 and it didn't.

I am willing to take a try with the 4g4a mainly cause of the 4:5 ratio...I have no issues with 430mhz ddr on this mobo so I think I could be fine....

Questions are:

1) How much does this board undervolt???

2) Are there reported higher temps with this board??

3) What are the rumors june bios will limit your oc??

4) Are ppl having to volt vdimm up to 2.8 an 2.9v levels to get things stable??

5) Are you having to run low settings to get things stable??

6) Any reboot issues due to undervollting vcore or vdimm??

I would settle for 1.6@2.672ghz at 1.68v actual and 418mhz ddr if I can get it...that would outproduce my 2.736ghz cpu with cas2 342mhz speed...should be equivalent to like 2.75-2.76ghz processor with 340-350 level ddr.

Let me know I would appreciate it....

1. Some people have undervolts prob and some have overvoltin probs. I have undervolting which can go down as much as 0.1 so my game freezes, but its fine if i set it to 1.8 vcore, that way it doesn't dip under 1.7 so its stable enough for me

2 Temps seem fine to me

3. April is the best bet for higher overclocking.

4. Most people with corsair are fine at 2.7, my samsung needs 2.9

5. I"m running at 154 fsb 4:5 ratio, memory cas at 2, 3, 3

6. undervolting can freeze my game, or hardlock.

I am not talking about vcore dropping under load...a .1v drop under load sounds like a power supply can't handle the juice being delivered....

My epox 4bda drops about .05 max even when set at 1.71v....

The question I am asking is....When you set a voltage in the bios, like say 1.65v...what is it at idle actually??? I mean my current epox mobo will be lower by about .06-.07v....That is very sizeable IMO!!!!

Oh my bad. So when i set it to 1.8 it averages around 1.76 in mbm. Also i have a 520 watt ttgi, and had an 350 antec ps b4. so it can't be not enough juice

if you are uneasy about the epox board, you have many other options. The i845e mobos are rock solid stable when ocing and have good reputations, most notably the Abit IT7. Also the Asus P4B533 i845G is very popular, as well as the Abit BG7, but the Epox board is equally as popular amongst this forum, though the people over at HardForums seem to hate that board.

I have just tested three 845G boards, the Epox 4G4A is a bigger POS than most. The Abit BG7 on the other hand has me running a 2.26 on air(stockIntel Fan) at 2.8 (2.67 max on Epox even with 1.85) at 1.58v, the ddr is corsair 3200 v1.1 at DDR 436 ratio 3:4, which is rock solid and doesnt require more than 2.6v, there really is no comaprison between the two boards, the Epox is able to overclock, but not to the same levels, not to the same memory speeds and takes more voltage to do so.If you only have the Epox then you will not be able to prove how much that board is holding you back, I have the Epox the Abit and the Giga 845Gs sitting here, and the Giga is a good board, but has warm boot issues and a very low 12V line, the Abit actually has no issues and gets higher with much less voltage, which is a definate sign of good vcore regulation.Hope this helps you.
