That generation of Prelude has a pretty poor reputation. Apparently it wasn't as well engineered as other Honda models. As much as like the way the 91 'Lude looks I'll prolly never have one. Granted, that isn't the reason cr4zymofo went through so many of them. And Oldsmoboat, I pretty much agree with M4H that technology makes horsepower more easily then displacement. How else do you explain big block V8's under 200 horses and 2L 4 bangers with 200.
Actually, I never had any mechanical or powertrain problems with those Ludes (One of them I drove to over 100Ks before having done anything major, and I have a lead foot). A lot of people say that they have transmission problems, but I didn't experience any. I thought that for it's time, the 87-91 circa Ludes offered a lot for the money. I even had on of those 4 wheels steering Lude (the 91 model), and I'd have to say, it had the sharpest steering of any car (besides the Porsche at that time). And you're right... neither malfunctions nor defects in craftsmanship were the reasons of those Ludes demise.
