Finally my outdated system can help out. I ran my 16 pipe x800gto at exactly x800xt speeds (500/500). My Clawhammer is clocked at 2.5 ghz. A stronger CPU than yours unless you got a crazy OC. Here?s the results:

All max w/ Full HDR (Catalyst 6.8)

12x10 2x AA 4x AF 64.17 fps
12x10 0x AA 0x AF Trilinear 96.93 fps
6x4 0x AA 0X AF Trilinear 103.74 fps

An x800xt is CPU limited below 12x10 0x AA 0x AF. If you play below that rez and eyecandy then a cpu upgrade would help.

Alright, ran the test again execpt this time with SLI8xAA.
Got 96fps avg. with same settings as before (top of page/bottom of last page)

SLIx16AA is unplayable. WAY too choppy.

Well 2 months and $1600 later, I get 100.17 FPS @ 1600x1200, 8x/16x, Full HDR and max other settings.

Using my old settings from my old system, I got 178 FPS.

Is this benchmark accurate to know how well the game actually runs on the hardware?

Does the demo of this game have the bechmark?

@OP, avg of 52FPS aren't that less.

Personally, I don't think it is an accurate benchmark. It does a good job of showing how your graphics card will handle the source engine. However, the physics intensive situations that come up while playing the game aren't addressed in the stress test.

I got 53.53 FPS on Lost Coast just now.

My System is this:
Athlon 64 3500+ at stock speeds.(Thinking about upgrading to an X2 4600+ soon)
2 gigs of OCZ PC2700 ram
ATI Radeon X1900XT 512mb at 625mhz core and 1450mhz memory.
PC Power and Cooling 510-SLI PSU
Abit KN8 Ultra Mobo

My settings on Lost Coast were:
Resolution: 1600*1200.
Game Settings: Everything was maxed out. I enabled 6x Quality Adaptive Anti-Aliasing and 16xHigh Quality AF.

It ran really smooth, with no noticable stutters, so I'm very pleased.

But when I play it, Fraps gave me an average of 32 FPS. It's still very smooth, though. I don't really know how accurate fraps is, really.

I can't find an option to run the stress test. Once I launch the game the options I have at the main menu are: New Game, Load Game, Options, Friends and Quit. Anyone have any ideas? If I launch CS:S, the option for that stress test is right there.

Do you have the game set to remain updated in properties? The stress test is on the main menu just like in cs:s.

Marked for later.

Specs: 3200+, x1900gt, 1 gig of ram(all stock). I'll be back with my 12x10 results.

Ok just back from the testing, in-game settings: HDR, 6xAA, 16xAF, everything set to high, no vsync. CCC settings: CAI is standard, no CCC controlled AA or AF, High quality AF, no AAA or TAA.

I got 70.96 fps with those settings... maybe I should oc my stuff a little bit

You mean to tell me that my C2D is the reason for 50FPS over yours? Doesn't sound right.

This guys is close to me. So I don't see how LW07's FPS is so low.

@LW07, oc that CPU to atleast 2.4-2.6GHz, if you get a noticeable boost, then it is the CPU the reason for the low FPS.

BTW if you run Loast Coast at 16x12 with Quadlit 6x AAA on a single 1900xt, how can you expect over 30FPS.

1680X1050, 2x Ad. AA, 16X HQ AF I got 85.7 fps on my X1900XT 256MB (stock clocks) and Opteron 165 @ 2.5 GHz.

Opteron 165 @ 2.5GHz is like a dual core X2 4800, how can you compare his system to it. But it does show to some extent that the bechmark is really CPU intensive.

considering the fact that athlon 64's on the 939 socket use about 98.9% of the bandwith offered by ddr400 he is probably getting a bottleneck because of his ddr333 as well. i would say leave the htt at its current multiplier and crank it up to about 230-240 if he has good cooling and feels comfortable doing so. that should give a nice speed boost (300-400 mhz) and give the CPU that little bit of extra room it needs to keep up with the x1900, especially since 1600x1200 is more gpu bound than cpu bound.
