Hello, I am wondering what all it will take to set up a tri screen for gaming for my pc.

My spec are:

I5 3330 processor
Gygabyte mother board
8gb ddr3 ram
3gb EGVA gtx 660 superclocked
600w corsair psu
Samsung 24" 1080p monitor

This will be my first time using more than one monitor. I would just add two more of the same monitor if that's possible.

Does that card support surround?

EDIT: my google fu helped me find that it does.

Yes, you can do three monitors in Nvidia surround with the GTX 660. I think that one needs to be DisplayPort or use an active DisplayPort to DVI/HDMI adapter though.

However, like radtechtips said, just because you can connect 3 monitors and stretch the image across them does not mean that you actually have the horsepower to run games smoothly.

with that gfx yea of course. Depends on if it has 3 screen input i.e. 2x HDMI, 1 x DVI, etc. You might need an adapter though if your third screen can't support, like if you have displayport or whatnot then you'd need displayport to hdmi adapter.

Do you guys think my set up will give me good fps for games like metro and skyrim?

And also, does using three screens just stretch everything or would I actually be able to see more of the games on the sides.

Thanks.

This should be a pretty good resource for you:
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1904/9/

The page I linked is a benchmark for Metro 2033 in surround on a GTX 680 SLI, AMD 7970, and GTX 680 (single). They were only able to get 16-20 FPS or so, but that was with everything cranked. I imagine they would've gotten playable framerates on the listed hardware if they turned the settings way down.

You can read the rest of the article for performance in other games (which was better) and for tips on setup.

tl;dr: If you get playable framerates on a GTX660, it'll be by turning the settings WAY down. I would say if you have the budget to buy two more monitors, consider a video card upgrade as well. If that's too expensive you're probably going to have to set this dream aside for now.

I dont see why not. My PC had 3 22" monitors and its a lowly C2D and the GPU is a 5770. PLayed DAO maxxed with no issues at all. On 4gb ram, uphill both ways, in the snow.

Personally I'd step up to at least a GTX680 (or amd equivalent) if it were me.

Metro 2033, no way unless you turn stuff way down. You have a better chance in Skyrim, perhaps 30 FPS without AA.

Seeing more vs. stretching depends on the game. If your game has field of view (FoV) options, then yes you will be able to see more.
