Can start up comp/graphic error

Hi I am having trouble starting up my computer..

Im not sure if its my video card or my raided drives.. When I start the computer sometimes it just goes pitch black and doesnt even load. Sometimes the computer starts running and when it goes into windows it just goes black and the monitor says no input signal. I can get into safe mode fine .. And whenever the logo appears in the very beginning when i turn on the computer, its all messed up looking with bunch of lines. . Does anyone know why this is happening? thanks.

I just tried switching graphcis card but that didnt work either. also i tried system restore but that didnt work iether..

check your ram timings, and run some sort of utility to check your ram for errors

It sounds to me as if Windows is simply setting the refresh rate so high that your monitor freaks out and either shuts down or else can't display properly. What version of Windows are you using?

im using dual channel ram right now.. i have windows xp

Agreed, try lowering your resolution and refresh rate and see what happens.

Yeah, what I'd suggest is

• start the computer in Safe Mode
• go through the motions of setting the display to 640 x 460 and 60Hz refresh rate, even though that's what it's already at in Safe Mode
• reboot and now see if you can set the resolution and refresh rate that's suitable to your monitor

but the problem is that i cant even get into windows..
i can only get into safe mode and wont let me change the refresh rate..

its not the problem with my monitor.. cause I just tried it on my crt monitor and it does the exact same thing.. In the very beginning,. the motherboard logo thing looks all weird.. and when windows is loading.. afterwards it just goes pitch black and starts flickering.

Theres been lots of ram problems with dual chanell 400,I think its voltage.Also make sure its a good power supply.What ram are you using?
