Can WHS be used a workstation?

Have parts left over, etc. to build a pc. Was going to build a basic XP Pro box for surfing and checking email in a workroom which also is where I keep a nas, router, swtich, modem, VoIP, etc. Now, am considering using WHS as the OS instead of XP so I can get a real server rather than a paltry NAS. But I don't wanna lose the ability to surf, other minor stuff in that room (nothing fancy at all). So, can a WHS based system with monitor and video card, etc., be used to surf?

Does WHS have a "desktop" and ability to run programs?

WHS does have support for a monitor, mouse and keyboard (at least all of the BETA's I've used). IE is included in the base installation and works fine. One of the "big" obstacles is there is no consumer virus software available that I know of yet, although I am using a corporate edition of Macafee on mine.
