No. I've tried a few times in an empty parking garage but I gave up frustrated (and I was in a Miata with the hood down).

Go ahead 1.75 spots, put in reverse, foot off break, crank wheel all the way to which ever side you're going, straighten wheels once straight, done.

Using mirrors as a guide helps a ton too. Don't focus on them because you'll hit something, but you can use them to line yourself up.

After years of "back in" parking many type III ambulances in precarious situations, I'd say it's pretty simple, and I do it often.

I have never tried. It wasn't part of the driving test and neither was parallel parking. All I had to do was drive straight in reverse along side a sidewalk for a few dozen feet.

Yes.

Speaking of drivers license tests...I think the guy that took me for mine assumed because I look asian that I couldn't speak a word of English. So all I just did was drive around for half an hour, whereas my white friends got asked to do all kinds of shit on their tests.

"View Poll Results: Can you park in reverse?
Yes (I have also been at fault for an accident) 2 12.50%
Yes (I have never been at fault for an accident) 13 81.25%
No 1 6.25%"

pffft yeah right.

maybe OP should refine this poll to say "BACK INTO A STALL AND ACTUALLY LAND BETWEEN THE LINES"
Getting the car between the lines isn't hard. Just like when you stop at a light, even though you can't see the line when you've stopped you still know you're behind it. You see the lines, and you remember where they are. It's not rocket science.

Even after playing several hours in tricky trucks, I could barely back up a trailer to save my life.

Yes, I can, but I see no reason to do so. It is riskier than parking the normal way, but still completely doable. Parking front-first, unless you are loading something, is the standard protocol of car use. Deviating from this is the sign of a real douchecanoe.

I probably back into a parking spot at least half the time if not more.

I hate parallel parking however, but I rarely have to thankfully.

yes, I've been backing one of those PITA smaller trailers all day so yes on the backing into a spot.
Good luck with the lessons, OP.

Front-first makes you a mindless drone.

backing in should be a ticketable offense. your reverse lights are on the back of your fucking car for a reason, quit trying to drive straight into the side of my car and then acting like it's my fault.

also quit driving past the space and then expecting me to back up for you, dipshit. no one thinks you're 'cool' for being able to drive your car in reverse, unless of course they're retarded, so you'd be in good company.

I made a parallel park the other day that I'm truly proud of. I literally had maybe 20cm of space either side. I have no idea how I got in there without hitting anything, to be honest. I had two friends in my car with me, and they were suitably impressed.

Like I said...bring lots of money. Also, be sure to give me advance notice. I have to make reservations for you. I THINK I can get you into Oldsmoboat's basement on short notice...but no sense in taking chances on your accommodations.

But that's the point. It isn't. Parking the "normal" way is riskier!

Yes, the actual parking process is riskier when reversing into a space - but the risk of that procedure is inherently low, as a parking space is not a road with traffic.

The bulk of the risk is when exiting the parking space. Reversing out of a parking space is much more risky because of reduced visibility. This is why good drivers always reverse *into* parking spaces, so that they get good visibility of the busier road that they are exiting into.

Plus, it allows you to make a quick getaway if the Russians come - or at least, that's what my Dad told me.
