Your ISP doesn't care. They aren't gonna do anything unless the RIAA or MPAA asks for your name.

Ok, thanks for an actual answer rather than a "holier than thou" response that the first guy gave me and many more will as well.

No.
They don't care about what their 100000+ clients download or upload. Since I have a flatrate DSL subscription, I can't "abuse" their bandwidth, either (one megabit isn't much, anyway). If I were stupid enough to get into some legal trouble (running a warez-business, paying for warez, etc.), they'd surely get to me, though. Don't violate the TOS and you'll be fine.

This may not be true where you live.

What if piracy is karmic retribution for wrongs committed by the company or it's people?

They won't bust you, but if your bandwidth usage it too high, they may send you a letter stating that you need to change your usage.

I agree with him. Why would they want to annoy someone who is giving them money on a monthly basis. If anything, they prolly wish the could tell the RIAA and everyone to f@ck off.

I believe if you have Verizon, they will defend you even if the RIAA asks. But as we have seen in the past, the court ordered verizon to release names/ip addresses of people that are downloading music (warez) from P2P. It wont be long before Bittorrent gets hit with the same issue. I doubt comcast will defend you and will probably just release your name but Verizon as far as i know brought their lawyers up to defend people using P2P but they lost in court so watch out.

Umm... I'm pretty sure they can bust you for doing something that is against the law whether it's in their TOS or not.

"What? You used our services to launch the worst virus in history? Well, that sucks but there's nothing about it in our TOS... you're still a loyal customer!"

Yes, they can bust you. My friends and I who have Cox, Charter, Comcast, Pacbell, Verizon, and Speakeasy have all got busted by our isps. Most of us only downloaded small mp3 files through torrents and kazaa. We got reported to the cops, had to pay fines ranging from $1000-5000 and were put on the internet blacklist.

You didn't get busted for downloading. You got busted for uploading. If you don't share, you're pretty much fine as of right now.
