I once had Billy Corgan standing behind me the entire night. We were at a Shudder To Think concert.
I didn't even know it was him right away. At first, he was just this reall rude annoying guy behind us. He kept talking over the music. The concert was at the Metro, which is a small club, and it was LOUD. After about ten minutes off and on, of this whining whiney voice, I looked back, and here is this enormous bald guy bobbing his head up and down. Then he looks over and says something to one of like five or six girls with him in that annoying voice. So this is him, the loud whiney guy. Well, he's a big guy, and this is a concert; I'm not going to say anything. I remember thinking right away, that it was odd that all those girls seemed to be with him. I turned around.
Five minutes later, James Iha is in the sound booth, no question. I did the star ogling thing for a minute, then got back into the show. It was an awesome show by the way. I was with my girlfriend (at the time), and we had just come from Co-ed Prison Sluts, which is a musical, accross the street. We hadn't even planned on going to the concert, but the headliners had still not come on yet, so we decided what the hell?
Next hing I know, Iha's on stage, and I'm like "cool". Then this bald behemoth behind me starts blabbing again. He was like, "Look at him. He thinks he's a big star."
He was pointing at James Iha. Now that I think of it, he seemed kind of drunk, but it's hard to say. He just kept going on and on about Iha playing guitar, and being famous, and laughing. So I was pretty fed up with this so I turned around again and looked at this guy. That's the first time I really did too, all night, and right away he strikes me as familliar. Now, I had seen Billy Corgan before, in concert, but we were moshing, so it's not like I was looking at him. Other than that, videos, and on the album covers. At none of those times, did he ever seem like a large scary looking bald man. So I'm about to tell this guy to shut up, when one of his little harem, says "Billy, want a beer?" or something like that. At that instant, I put it all together, and shut my half open mouth!
I turned around and told my girfriend, who had been annoying us all night. She didn't pay any attention to the band the rest of the evening.
Me neither though really. I kept looking around for D'Arcy
P.S. Sorry Craig. I bought all your albums though!
