cant format hardrive computer error (32768)

Im trying to format and install windows XP but this problem pops up


File acpi.sys caused an unexpected error (32768) at line 5964 in D:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c."

other forums say its a power, or temperature problem, but the temperature is normal and all fans function properly

please help!

Could be a lot of things.

Could be the cd you are trying to use, could be the hd you are trying to format is toast, could be the controller on the motherboard you are trying to use needs a driver to be loaded with f6 while you are trying to install.

The only time I've seen similar errors was when pre sp2 XP didn't recognize a pci device. I was able to overcome the problem by installing XP sp2 but I never figured out what specifically was fixed. Good luck and keep us posted.
