cant see other comp

I have 2 comps, one win2k the other win98. They are connected to a LInksys router and can get on the internet, play LAN games on Counterstrike, and everything else. The problem is I can't access one computer from the other, I can't even ping the other comp. The Win2k comp can lists the Win98 one but when you try to access it it says "invalid path". The win98 comp can't even see the win2k comp. They are on the same workgroup, ip addressing is DHCP. The NICs are good, (tried different ones) and router is good (also tried another). So what can i do?

are you running some software firewall program on the computers?

and i just want to make sure i get this right, you cant connect from both the win2k and win98 computers?

Do you have file and print sharing turned on for both boxes? Also, are you running any type of firewall on either box?

Step 1: For the purpose of the initial setting, disable all Software Firewall (including WinXP own Firewall), or and active Virus scanner disable them for the initial setting.

Step 2: Look in System Properties, and make sure that the drivers are installed, and there is no hardware conflict.

Step 3: Recheck all Network settings in the Control Panel Network Connections.

If all of the above is OK, then it is usually a Sharing issue.
