Can't turn on PC!!

specs: i7 920 w/ V8 cooler, asus P6T Deluxe, Corsair 750W

The new build has been running strong for a month now. Then today, I Press the power button, fans start to spin for a 1/2 second, then off everything turned off. I'm thinking it's either mobo/psu/cpu. Here is what I've tried.

- unplugged all usb devices, video card, etc
- unplugged all connections (except cpu pw, mobo pw)
- resetting the motherboard screws

Can't seem to find any issues? Please help

It can't be your CPU since the power shuts off.
Most likely your mobo. When you open your case, does the power/reset button on the mobo light up?
Try unplugging 8pin 24pin connector for 10sec and give it a try again.

Yes, I can see the power/reset buttons on the asus board. I've been using them to power off/reset for testing.

I just tried a tip someone suggested online to test the PSU. I got a paper clip and connected it to the green + black wires and turn it on. The PSU fan spun for a second, then turned off....

Bad PSU?

so power/reset button is lit meaning psu is supplying juice to the mobo.
did u try disconnecting the 24 pin?
try the paper clip trick without the PSU plugged into anything.

Yes. I've disconnected and reconnected the 24-pin a couple times.

The paper clip trick I did with the PSU completely out of the case.

So I assume that when the PSU is connected to the MB, everything lights up.
But when the power button is pressed, fans spin for 1/2 sec and nothing happens (with power/reset lights on)

tried paper clip trick outside and inside with connection, both with 1/2 sec fan on.

If above is true, it looks like your PSU powering mech is out.

Yes. to all the above. I'm going to try to hook the PSU up to 2 fans, then do the paper clip trick. If that fails then I'm sure it's the PSU. This is the first time buying a Corsair PSU and i'm going back to my Antec ones.....My old box has been running strong 10 years same PSU from day one...go figure.
