Can't wait for E6600? Now what?

Hi there............

I am one of those run like heck and wait peeps! I went ahead and bought all my components for my build based around the Core 2 Duo E6600.
I am now in the same boat as others.............waiting who knows how long to get one? I really thought Intel would have a enough stock to at least somewhat satisfy the initial demand but I guess not.
I guess my question is this.........................should I sit and wait until I can get ahold of the E6600 or should I go ahead and get an existing chip and complete the build.........................change to the E6600 after the dust settles?
If you guys do recommend getting something right now..............which chip would you suggest? I am using the ASUS P5W-DH mobo. Thinking about the D805 { $100 } with some overclocking?

Look at a calender. Aug 7th is a tad over 1 week away. You can't wait 1 wk without a CPU?????

Everyone "said" they would be available on the 27th to ?????????????????

You really think that everyone will have them on the 7th????????????

Man I hope so.................... I went with what most said and now am stuck...............guess I am the impatient kind ?????????????

I was under the impression that a number of sites will be getting them by the 4th and have them shipped to customers by the 7th. I've even seen places claiming they will have them by the 1st but then again plenty said the 27th so I wouldn't put much stock in that. Regardless, I highly recommend waiting the 1 to 2 weeks it will take to get the chip. I know I will be.

The Aug 7th ship date is Intel wanting to ensure that the entire channel exits the starting gate at the same time to minimize channel conflict. (OEMs, B&M, drop ship etailers, stocking etailers, etc) There's plenty of inventory already out there but they can't ship it.
