You guys are great! Thank you.
Will wait for June, then balance the NV Pascal with the AMD Polaris (10 being the faster model than 11). I am also finding interest in several of the Video threads now that I know what is happening.
The freesync monitor is new to me. Will look into that.
Much appreciated.
Regarding preferences, my personal preference is for AMD but my nephew's friends are all nVidia, leaving him feeling left out by the crazy uncle getting him the "inferior" AMD components. So I am trying to be open minded but figure if it is my money, it is going to AMD.
There is a lot of technology coming out in the gpu world but many don't know about it.
Like freesync/gsync is just one.
Dsr/vsr is another technology. You can render the game at higher resolutions to add more quality. For example, there aren't many projectors with 4k support that are affordable. Even though my projector is only 1080p, I play all my games at at least 1440p and this adds more quality to the image.
Nvidia has more users so people in general just buy what their friends have and amd didn't do itself any favors buying Nvidia major competitor (ati) the subsequently killing the whole brand.
One of the largest benefits of going Nvidia is everyone has it so it's easier to get help or figure out what's wrong with your cads.
