I bought a great machine that was advertised in the for sale section here awhile back. I wish I could find the thread so I could tell you what kind of case/mb I have. I really don't know.
Anyways... the case has one of those variable speed fans that goes faster/slower depending on the temp. Recently the thing goes at full throttle ALL of the time. When the machine comes on it is quiet mode - barely can hear it. But after about 30m it starts stepping up until it goes full speed. It the never slows down unless I turn the machine off.
When I go into the BIOS and look at CPU temp everything seems OK - easily within limits. What else should I be looking at to see why the fan will not slow down? Very loud and annoying.
