Catalyst application profiles

Well this week I had to get rid of my 6800GT as it had overheated and was giving terrible artifacting on the screen. I have replaced it with a Radeon 2600XT.

I have one 17-inch LCD monitor and a 32-inch LCD TV. I play a lot of videos out my PC and on to my TV while still having the monitor for surfing the web...etc

With the Nvidia drivers I used to have two independant displays each with their own resolution...etc and there was also a feature that always opened my media player classic on to my TV rather than my monitor. I think it was called application profiles.

I was wondering if ATI had such a feature and how to configure it and how to configure two independant displays on my new card.

I have a 20" 1680x1050 LCD, and I found a 17" 1280x1024 LCD. Each is on its own DVI port connected to a HD2900XT.

The ATI CCC detected my secondary monitor when I turned it on. I opened CCC by right-clicking on the desktop, going into advanced mode, and selecting "Displays Manager" on the left side of the CCC window. Once I dragged the new monitor's icon from the currently disabled box to the "Desktop 2" box and hit apply, each display has had its own independent resolution.

I can drag windows from one to the other, and they keep their size and position (unless maximized, which resets them to monitor 1 for some reason) each time I open them.

There are application profiles of a sort, if you hit the Profiles button at the top of the CCC window, but I don't see any way to make them run automatically whenever a certain program is launched. You need to set up a hotkey or manually select a profile from within CCC before running your program. In any case, there don't appear to be any options in the CCC profiles that would do what you want. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong!)
