I'm planning on getting a cold cathode soon, but just started to wonder if the cathode will increase case temps much. Anyone know how one cathode will affect case temps? Check out my signature for an overview of my rig.
I have 2 12" cathodes in my full tower case, but I have been having problems with them so I have not had a chance to check temp changes, but I have felt how hot they get and am guessing that in your setup it would raise it 1 or 2 degrees AT MOST, IMO I doubt it will even do that much, but once I get mine working I will post how they did.
I should have the results of mine by tomorrow afternoon...
cubic. stop worrying bout cathode lights raising ur case temps and do wut i'm gonna do. i'm bout to drill a 120mm hole in the top of my lian-li pc-65 and put in a panaflo 120mm fan blowing out the top. wish me luck.
Exactly what are using to do this? I would love to put in a nice big blowhole on the top (or maybe even 2), but I'm not sure how to go about it being as the lian li is aluminum.
but the link to a site that shows u how to mod cases and more specifically make holes which is wut we want to do is HERE.
u need tools... i just got me a dremel tool last weekend, cost bout $70 but is the most valuable tool u'll have for the rest of ur life. i have to buy a circle drill. they come in perfect sizes like 80mm, 92mm, 120mm. perfect for fan sizes. look carefully at this article as it shows step by step procedures. i'm doing mine this week. (knock on wood)(cross fingers)(pray)
ok...A COLD Cathode will not put off enough heat to make a difference..thats why there so popular...and as far as cutting HOLES....a dremel works..but a hole saw works great!
I have 3 120mm fans as intakes that i modded into my case...if you want to see clean holes..use the hole saw...check out my link below to see the holes from a hole saw (I didnt take pics of the proccess, but you can see the holes any ways...and there are pics of my window mod, my neon and EL cable as well...)
[EDIT: lol..ooppss..forgot...I took my web server down for some maintainence..it should be back up my 6pm tonight..sorry, use this Link in the mean time]
has not raised my temps at all.....but i have found out that if you leave them on to long they can break in 1/2.....so dont leave them on for extended periods of time
