The only problem with that line of thought is that Imus is a Democrat and we all know that FOX would never allow a Democrat on air right?

Now lets us white folk go after some of these black leaders for similar statements they've made. An eye for an eye after all.

We won't. We're not that thin skinned. We know that we will in actuality accomplish nothing.

One day no one will be able to say anything because it may offend someone.

Mr. Imus crossed the line with great frequency. Multiple apologies evidently weren't enough. Black leaders called for blood and they got it. The world is a better place.

lol, speaking for the black community and the white community. Isn't CBS at fault also for falling under the pressure and not sticking with Imus, who has been with them for a while? Also, advertisers like GM and others pulled their ads from the show pretty quickly, so are they also not at fault?

I don't like the firing of Imus at all, even though I rarely ever listened to his show. I think people are now giving people a second chance less frequently now and that is a shame. Although in this case, Imus apparently has said some stuff in the past and that was one of the reasons also for the outcome. Still, what he said was wrong and his firing is wrong as well.

The print and broadcast media hate talk radio and getting one as old as Imus is the first step.
LOL, Let him try Howard Stern. Howard would eat both him and Jackson up. In fact I bet next week both of those Race Baiters are going to get blasted on Stern's Program and there's nothing they can do about it as he's not on "Public" airwaves.

The ACLU does not defend white people except in cases versus Christian religions
Oh so when has Christianity been the sole domain of White People?

Stop trying to make this a Democratic/Republican issue. I'm supporting Imus and yet I'm a Democrat. Is your World going to implode now? No. It's possible.
Thanks for the news on his political affiliation though. Prof was so convinced he was a Dem and I was not. He seems more Republican.

Geez people, Imus made a stupid racial slur and that got him fired. Plain and simple. What the heck is all these people talking crap about black community and how they must be proud. WTF. Imus is the one who made the mistake here. He didn't just made the racial slurs, he targeted the slur specifically at a bunch of college kids who did nothing to deserve that. And I am sure CBS made a business decision based on how his comment impacted their revenue and not what Al Sharpton says for feels.

I am not even black, and I can only image how most black feel when Imus made racial slur against those girls and bunch of people not only defended Imus, but talk crap about the black community. Yeah there are black entertainers who use racial slurs everyday and made millions out of it. But that's a separate issue here. Not all black think that's okay and that doesn't make it open season for everyone to use racial slur against black or any other minority, not to mention do it on air publicly.

Man, I thought America is doing better in terms of getting along between different race, culture and religion. These Imus thread really opened my eye and show how much work we still have in front of us.

I'll add some more fuel to this fire:

Yesterday on Oprah, while hosting the guests, Rutgers womens basketball team.. Oprah mentioned something about how white people can't dance. I didn't watch it, so I don't know the exact quotes..

It was during the period that the Rutgers girls were showing Oprah how to do some dance.. something along those lines..

So.. I guess for Oprah, its totallly acceptable, correct?

Sharpton and Jackson aka Race Baiters Inc. leading the charge and making a bigger deal out of it than it actually was is causing a lot of of this blowback!

I'm glad that the RU team is not taking the side of Sharpton. The Coach says she's is saddened he lost his job and it looks like the team met with Imus and forgave him.

Why can't Sharpton be like that?

Wow, based on much of the opinion I'm seeing on P&N, and all of the pent-up frustration at this country's black leaders, it must be tough to be male, middle class and white.

I had no idea the white man has gone through such trying times. I mean, 400 years of slavery, inequality, separate but equal, in other words, four centuries of the black experience in this country ain't got nothin' on Chad from the suburbs and his multitude of problems.

I'll tell you exactly where this rage is coming from, the white man is getting a little tired of the double standard and a little f'ing tired of being blamed for everything by some members of the black community.

So let me get this straight - the black leaders in this country are blaming YOU for what Imus said?

He got fired because advertisers withdrew their money in mass, not because people complained.

Of course advertising account managers care about what people think, but it's not a direct link. If advertisers didn't care, he would still have his job.
