I'm having a problem with my CD Roms drives. I have an Acer 8x/4x/32x CD-RW and a no name, 40x CDRom drive that came with my computer. I'm running windows 98SE.
My problem is that some CD's do not get recognized by either of my CD-Rom drives and I cant play ANY audio CD. I'm using ATAPI drivers for both my drives, and I've tried disconnecting each drive to see if one or the other works, but no luck there.
For all audio CD's, I can browse them, but when I try to play a track with winamp I get an illegal operations error. Musicmatch wont even recognize a CD in the drive. For some data CD's, mainly games, I can run them fine up to a point usually past the intro sequence, but then I get a "please insert CD" when I try to actually start a game even though the correct CD is in there already. It doesnt happen with all CD's just a few. And these are all original CD's, not copied ones. The weird thing is, I didnt have this problem before, it just started happening one day for some reason I cant recall.
