CDROM drives not showing.....heeeelp

I was about to put on a music cd and when i hit eject my computer restarted for no reason........everything went like normal and my drives were identified in post but both my CDRW and DVD drives aren't showing. They are in device monager but with the yellow exclamation mark.....what can i do? THank you in advance.

I have seen adaptec (roxio) ezcd creator, viruses, and a noide entry in the registry cause this particular issue.

Click on the drive in device manager and tell me what it says. Does it say something like "Device is not ready" or "Drivers not installed" or what? It should give you a reason as to why it could not initialize the drive.

remove them both then reboot see if that fixes it. along with your Ide channels, windows should redetect, if all else fails aspi layer needs to be reinstalled.quick serch for info

This shows up when clicked on in device manager: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Sounds like a virus. Windows always had a driver for the CD-Drive, ever since windows 98 actually. Try booting off the CD. That way you will know for sure whether it's thie drive or Windows.
