i haven't bothered to get any sliding/folding faceplates for the 6100 series, if anyone's bought one from them do you know if they're the button release or the manual ones ?

one of my friends got a sweet sliding one that slides out through a spring-release but pressing a button on the side, matrix-style

if anyone's seen em give me a holler, i've only gotten the standard housings/faceplates from them

Quest - Which cell phone do you have that you got the 3200 mah Li-Ion vibrating battery for?

How do I know how many mah my $18 Nokia 6190 vibrating battery is? What's a good number of mah to have? Bought mine from Onvia.com

Hello RossMan,

I have a Nokia 6100 series. This particular Li-Ion battery lists the mah on the face of the battery which faces the phone and can only be seen when the battery is removed. The standard non Li-Ion battery that came with my Nokia doesn't list the mah rating of the battery. I guess you could try to search and find out from the battery manufacturer.

It appears the higher the mah, the longer the longer the battery holds it's charge. They have "ultra-slim" Li-Ion" rated at 950 mah or so that supposedly do quite well. They cost about the same as my 3200 though. I've heard Li-Ion is "best" as long as you don't let them soak in water: reportedly they can EXPLODE!

One has to be careful with some of this new technology...

Damn Freedommobile.com makes you wait 10 DAYS for shipping! Goddamn, anyone buy from them and got their stuff sooner? Also the confirmation email was from an aol account. Sounds a wee bit suspicous. If anyone dealt with this company before could you email me if it went ok?

i've dealt with freedommobile before, and many of my friends whom i've referred have as well. we've usually gotten our stuff before 10 days, but hell for that pricing who cares. a faceplate or housing and battery isn't exactly time-crucial, i think i can wait

otherwise you can pay a few more bucks and go somewhere else.

as for the mAh ratings on batteries, the higher the better. They're usually around 900 mAh, 1200 mAh for the extended, and even up to 1500 mAh for the ultra-extended ones. most ultra-slim ones are around 600 mAh, the tradeoff for longer battery life is a bigger one, slim/ultra-slim ones have relatively shorter ones. if you can, get the Lithium Ion ones (Li-On), they're much better then the standard NiMH ones that ship default. Most Nokia phones come with a NiMH phone, and you were pretty lucky if you got a Li-On one. Either way i'd buy a new one after i get the phone, a slim or ultra slim one w/ vibrate ability, just because they're so damn cheap.

I am in no way complain....yea I am. I just was surprised because it doesn't tell you that it would take that long. Also it doesnt give you a different option for shipping. But these prices are sure to drive him out of business. Also do you know if the faceplates have the little nokia logo on them. Its important to me cause I stress the little things.

http://feedommobile.com is the way to go if you are a nokia user.

You need to rephrase that. It's the place to go if you have a Nokia 5100 or 6100 series. I have a 282 and my wife's is a 252 - no cheap accessories for them there

Anyone know a place for 282 or 252 accessories?

A couple of others to check out too- www.accessories4sale.com ( aka www.cellunlimited.com ), www.worldphones.com ,

Also bricks and motar- much easier to return for a refund if it doesn't work : sometimes Big Lots and Target. Target sells Jabra, Sanyo, Samsonite brand (warrantied for 5 yrs) cellular accessories and periodically puts the Samsonite stuff on sale for 20-25%.

BTW- I recently checked out the www.freedommobile.com and like their price but couldn't find a an email addressor, real address, fax #, only an 800# which nobody answered iin the 2 times I called on 9-08-2000

actually i've seen hella mods for the timeport, i saw a heavily mod'ed one last week at a local shop. didn't know what it was for a second, looked like a 6190 but i nicer feel and slightly different shape.

you may have to wait a while before the go mainstream, i haven't seen anyone with one before. but there _are_ mods for it, check eGay, you may have to shop around for them and look a little harder.

I'm supposed to be getting this phone, but AT&T doesn't have it yet (at least not my rep here in Cleveland). I have a question about the phone: Does it use a standard headset jack, or is it proprietary, like the 5100 and 6100?
Otherwise, what do you like about it? I haven't been able to find any reviews of it.

Crimson:
The phone is awesome...it's by far the best phone made anywhere today...of course with the European model 8210....
My provider is SunCom and they are member of AT&T networks...only soooo much better and cheaper plans...$40 of 600 minutes (no roaming, no long distance, and no peak off peak sh!t), and they also have $80 unlimited phone calls...they are only in the South tho (SC, NC, VA)...
The headset jack kinda looks like the one for walkman...I don't use that so I can't really tell u specifics...
But the phone is awesome...it's 3.2 oz, can barely feel it in my pocket...sound quality is so good that I have to turn the volume down to understand what people are saying because otherwise it's too loud....

Battery is holding out for the 4th day now, without recharging...
Reception is awesome...network is not very strong in my house and I have Ericsson KF788 before and it had like 1 bar or it went roaming in my house...
This baby has 2 out of 4 bars on the same spot...
One word....THE BEST!

I wanted to get 8860 and the battery in it and reception was so bad that they recalled it...and it's $500 phone...
I got this one for $50 with rebate (traded my Ericsson in) and I am more than satisfied with it...
It's $200 normally with contract and AT&T has $50 rebate and $25 old navy gift cert when you buy that phone...
So technically if I count the Old Navy crap I got it for $25...which is HOT deal

There are some ratings on cnet.com...
It got 7 out of 10...8860 got 6/10 and 8890 7/10

This guy on cutetrend.com is doing ringtones for it...
Hes pretty cool guy....

Thanks. I finally found some info by reading a couple newsgroups for the first time.
My AT&T rep said they weren't supporting the downloadable rings right now and she wasn't sure about the messaging. Can you receive email on the phone? Can you send email?
The only complaint I saw was that it might get a little hot. Has this been a problem?
Also, did it come with a headset? Some packages did. I think it was a Canadian promotion, though. I guess the headset is proprietary. uses four-wire instead of three, if that makes sense.

Thanks for the info!

1. as long as you can get text messages you can download ringtones....SunCom has SMS messaging so I assume At&t does too...
like you either go on suncom.com and click on messaging center or you can send e-mail to <your number>@tms.suncom.com
so yeah you can get both e-mail and sms
I tried to send sms and it worked, but sending e-mail from the phone didn't
as far as receieving both e-mail and sms it worked flawlessly
2. did not even get warm let alone hot
3. yeah it does come with a headset

Thanks a lot. You've been extremely helpful. I was a little hesitant when I first found out the phone is not WAP compatible, but the other features seem to make up for that.

Interesting that you can receive email. The desription on NokiaUSA.com states that you can send and receive SMS and send email (but not receive it). Weird. I only know one other person who has AT&T, so the SMS thing will probably be useless. :-(

Thanks again!
