Certificate Revoked

I'm trying to log in to my AOL mail account, but after entering my username and password, IE7 goes to a page that says:

-----
There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

This organization's certificate has been revoked.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.

We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.
-----

I've tried Googling the problem, but can't seem to find anything with a solution. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Security Certificates are almost NEVER revoked. Are you sure you are actually on AOL's site, and not on a spoofed site?

I just went to the AOL Mail sign-on page, and the Certificate there is valid. It's an Equifax Secure Certificate named "my.screename.aol.com". It looks like AOL sites have Certificates named "***.aol.com"

What does IE7 say about the details of the Certificate that it's complaining about? Is it an Equifax certificate, with a name similar to "***.aol.com"?

I figured out what was causing this.

Another website suggested Norton 360 was the culprit, so I went through my 360 settings, disabled Transaction Security, and viola...I was able to log in to AOL's web email without a hitch.

It would be nice if I didn't have to go in and temporarily disable this feature just to check my AOL email. I don't use my AOL email often enough to be a big deal, but it's still annoying. I have a feeling that the error may occur with other secure websites, so I'm wondering if it's worth permanently disabling Transaction Security.

If you trust that Certificate, (although I'd never trust a Revoked Certificate), then you could try installing it on your PC. That's an option when you view the Certificate details. After it's been installed, I doubt that Norton would complain about it anymore.

I wish I knew what Norton's transaction security really does that would make IE7 say that AOL's login page has a revoked certificate error when it's obviously not.

I hardly know anything about certificates, but I'm pretty sure that this shouldn't have been a problem. Especially when I typed in the aol.com in the address bar myself and went through their homepage to get to the login.

Am I being naive? How do I find the certificate to verify that's it's not bogus? The error message page in IE7 does not offer any details about the certificate.

It's tougher to figure out than with IE6.

Once the error message has come up, in the very top of IE7, you'll see that there's a reddish area near the center. Play with that and you'll be offered the opportunity to View (and Install) the Certificate.
