That is what I thik as well.
But did anybode try it on VNF3?
This looks like pretty recent BIOS so it would be interesting to see the results

Just curious- why do you want to update- experiencing any problems? I have this board- absolutely wonderful.

It doesn't like my 2 512MB double sided sticks of OCZ - works at 5:6 only and no way to force 1:1 operation unlike previous BIOS version.
But that version didn't have FID control and didn't support mobile CPU.
With one stick I am able to go as high as 278fsb memory 1:1.
With 2 sticks it goes up to 288 fsb but memory 5:6 so only 240 mem.

i like this motherboard too. Right now im using 2 stick of corsiar 3200 cas 2, i forget the other 3 numbers but i thing there around 2-2-2. but when i used the default timing of the memory sticks, my system will freeze. i have to back the timing of til like 4-6-6-cas 2.5 then my system is stable. When i had my memory in m asus nforce 2 and gigabyte nforce 3 150 motherboard, i can run my memory at it defualt speed 2-2-2 cas 2. my system will be very stable.

And another thing is im having problems using cool & quiet on here, when is set the power mangement to minmal power, my monitor will power down and and wont come back on, when i reboot my computer will boot up fine but once it loads windows it'll power down my montior again. I'll ahve togo into safe mode and reset my powermange back to always on. and yes in my system propertoes the k8.sys driver is install. this issue happens in both windows xp(32 bit) and windows xp 64-bit

so i was hoping chaintech was releasing a bios to fix these issues.

what is cool and quiet?

does it have anything to do with running my fan at a ridiculous rpm?

i've noticed that the CPU temp is unusually high, it is detected at 1.63v. is that weird?

oh yeah, and what do you guys use to monitor your board/cpu if the bios doesn't do it right?

Pinchy, what ram do you have?

Try setting the Vdimm higher in the bios, and then use digidoc etc to read the value.... 2.52vdimm whatever. At least thats what I'm getting with Hynix BT-D43 chips.

corsair value select pc3200 cl2.5

um, what does that have anything to do with the fan, and cpu voltage?

I'm asking because digidoc seems to misread the Vdimm voltage also, either that or its telling the truth.

oh. i see. i thought digidoc read stuff correctly, but the bios read the temps wrong. or is that not possible?

either way, we need some new bios....and it looks like my fan is still out of control. people are saying that i may have a different stock HSF, but noone can really tell, because i can't tell if the temps are correct or not (esp. since the sys. temp is hotter than the cpu temp...)

i tried the new beta bios. it's reading it at around high 40s, on idle, and then just shy of 60C on FULL load. that seems much more reasonbale. it was also detecting the fan at around 4300 rpms most of the time (alot better than 5400rpm).

too bad the bios sucks, it doesn't detect my drives on my pci ata card, it doesn't let ram work at 200 (ddr400), and thier new "cool and quiet" option crashes windows.

chaintech needs to get their act together and put out a bios that doesn't suck.
