Changing Domains NT4

Ok, here is my dilemma.
I have a NT4 Server on our network that is on it's own domain (example domain - abc.com). I want to change it so that it's on the main domain (example - abc), but since it's Primary DC no longer exists (long story) it will not let me change it. I've tried promoting it as a Primary, then renaming it, but it balks again. This particular server is running SQL6.5 and accessing it from a different domain is making access dog slow. Anyone got any ideas? My last resort is to reinstall NT, but I'm afraid it will really screw up the SQL.

You need to reinstall NT or get a copy of Upromote.

If the machine is a domain controller, you can't change the domain without reinstalling NT4.

If the machine is a member server, you should be able to move it from the domain into a workgroup, and then into the new domain. Provided, of course, there's already a DC in the new domain.

If you want to make this machine a domain controller in a new domain, you'll need to reinstall.

W2K does not have these limitations, BTW.
