There are some good deals to be found on acoustic guitars in musiciansfriend.com 's "scratch & dent" section if you don't mind some minor wear on the guitar.

pawn shops and swap meets have great deals, but you should go with someone that knows about guitars. yard sales are also good sources. if you're in socali cruise through toluca lake, for some reason there are always great deals on musical instruments there. i've seen at least two separate yard sales with nothing but instruments. i think the guys buy their gear from the people who rent to junior/high school students and then resell. they had really nice acoustics from $30-300. also had various other instruments. they have these sales fairly often.

Sure, Pete Townshend could save some money with these, instead of demolishing his standard stuff!

Hey guys, I've been eyeing buying my first electric guitar, and been trying to decide what to get. So basically I had decided the Squier Bullet Special is a good guitar from all the reviews, and talking with friends about the type of stuff it'd be good for. Apparently the humbucking pickups deliver more power so it's good for distortion if you wanna play stuff, but would this affect the sound should I *not* want distortion sometimes?

Also, between the Squier Bullet Special and this guitar, which one is better? Thanks!

I bought my first guitar here. I holds a tune really well. Great to learn on, before you spend the big bucks on a really GOOD one.

This is a regular, full-sized guitar. It is a "Junior" in the sense that it only has one pickup, and its build and overall fit and finish are not intended to be at the same level as a full-blown Les Paul, which is a much costlier guitar. Many players will prefer the working-class aesthetic, and may prefer its tone to the regular Les Paul, which is solid mahogany (as opposed to plywood), and has its neck glued in (as opposed to bolted on). This is an ideal first electric guitar, and is actually quite a high-quality piece, once it has been professionally set up.

Are you sure? I thought the juniors were a 3/4 size guitar. I'm not sure, but I thought they looked a bit smaller when I saw them at Mars music a few months back.
