check ATX power supply, how?

My computer went out after 2days of "burning smell", looked inside no obvious hot parts, but now does not even turn the PS fan.

I suspect either the MB is gone, or the PS, is there a way to check the PS module?

I believe you can short pins 15 and 16 on the power supply and it will turn on. Make sure you have a couple of hard drives plugged in so you don't fry the ps.

If you do a search on some older threads there was some good discussion on this subject. There were also some links, which I can't remember right now, that showed you how to identify pins 15 and 16. It is a quick way to verify whether the ps is dead r not.

to check to see if the PS is gone... look inside it, look for the fuse... is it broken? if so its gone
