HAHAHA. Dude, the red dots aren't the fire... You can't actually see the flames... They are indicating WHERE the fires are. They are added in. Think about it... When you see forest fire footage on TV, there's usually a TON of smoke right? Dry wood + dry leaves + dry animals (heh) = a very smoky fire. Now, as most of us learned by the age of 7, smoke travels upwards... Sattelite pictures are generally taken above the earth's surface. Perhaps the smoke would get in the way and you wouldn't be able to see a bright red square?
Evidence:
Look at that fire! Gee, no smoke, and wow... it even turns at right angles. Damn that's a smart fire
