Sweet deal OP

btw check out the aluminum microATX case on the right in "related items" - toolless but no front ports as far as I can tell, and WTF molded floppy?!

ADDENDUM: LOL also in the description for this alum it lists NET weight 6.6 kg GROSS weight 5.6 kg!!!! Also 5.6 x 2.2 = 12.3 lb NOT 9.6 lb if the specs on bottom are true

Seriously who edits this site!

yeah.... i think its a sweet deal too, i dont really have a need for a spare case right now (in fact i have spare ones) but i honestly loved this case when i had it (was for my first amd64 3000+ machine), but i had to sell it since i thought i was going to be moving for a job (turned out i didntsadly).

i guess this is the one that doesnt have the window side panel though . they also have discounted that other foxconn case to like $11.99 from $14.99 (there is another thread on that i think).

I have this case but the one with the side window. In my opinion, it's a very nice case. The biggest problem I've had is sometimes it can be a challenge to get the screwless card holders (PCI/AGP/PCI-e) to go down all the way and fasten in when there's a card in there. Every time I've managed to get it fastened, I'm just sometimes afraid to use too much pressure, afraid I'd break it. But the case is VERY nice and roomy and the filter on front is quite nice for keeping the insides clean.

Edit: Bummer, was playing around to see if I could get the shipping to be more reasonable. 3 cases has $43 shipping for me.

These guy quote me $8.49 for UPS ground, then try to charge me $10.90 at checkout. They also overcharge me on sale tax. Damn crooks. Another retailer on my poop list.

well you are in virginia the case weighs 20 pounds and they are in northern california.

i have shipped items cross country like that and well that actually is reasonably fair based on ups ground rates.

There's no way the case without a PSU weighs 20 lb. I looked at the shipping calculator ($18 to chicago btw  ) and it quoted 23 lbs. gross weight. Well according to the Official Product Specs this case WITH a 350W power supply comes in at 9.4*2.2 = 21 lb (rounded up). Subtract a 6 or 7 lb. generic PSU and you get 15 lb. gross, tops.
It is clear they are running a "sale" but recouping via the huge shipping markup. Not quite as bad as some much less credible sites I've seen, but still, reminiscent of ebay.

P.S. I once shipped a 30+ lb. home audio subwoofer using UPS at a retail counter for only $22, and that was about a 22" cubic box. So I can call bull.

All that said, the case still intrigues me. Thanks again OP.

Like I said, buncha Crooks. Wait for a few days and they will probably drop the price another $3-$4. I'm sure their cost is no more than $15 per unit for an out-of-production case without PSU and side windows.

You can actually find out what shipping costs them. Go to UPS site and calculate shipping between your two area codes, and specify that you have "daily pickup service." You will then get the wholesale price.

BTW, last time I shipped something heavy was a computer from WI to CA and that cost me $46 at a "Postal Connections" store. I looked up wholesale price and it was over $20 less.

I don't appreciate crooked retailers using low price, then jack up shipping to mask the true final cost. This case is worth a maximum of $25 out-the-door. No big loss if I miss this deal.

I have this case (or a variation of it... mine has a nice window in the side), and i've been very happy with it.

I believe it's worth more because it comes with a 120mm fan, easy to set up, non-flimsy metal, and good ventilation. It's worth at least $40.

Almost any modern high performance PC will come with two 120mm fan slots. The Chenbro has adequate ventilation with only one front 80mm case fan. Why pay $40 for the Chenbro when I can go with an Antec SLK3000B for $48?

One can mount a 120 x 38 front case fan in the 3000B to keep the hard drives at 30C with 25C ambient. Bonus points for quick-release optical drive bays, floppy drive bay, and HDD drive bay.

The Chenbro was a decent case two years ago, but it is not in the same league as the best modern value rig when it comes to noise, cooling, and convenience.

Well... for $26 shipped I'd rather get this (piece of junk, but cheap). That chenbro is decent quality, but is ugly as sin and the front bezel looks like a PITA.

Face it... any experienced builder won't be getting one of these themselves, but it makes a cheap build case for someone else.
