I'd agree with you on this. "classy" ladies like you to open doors for them and take care of them. They more than give it back in other ways.

I've also heard many women complain when a guy DOESN'T do the little chivalrous things.

I was always taught to be chivalrous by my parents. As an adult I am to everyone *except* my mother. For whatever reason, she is one of those women that EXPECTS you to open the door for her because she is a woman. I love her dearly, but too bad.

It depends on what kind of family the girl or the guy comes from. I have been taught to do all the Chivalry stuff but sometimes you'll get a girl who has never had a guy do that for her so she just kind of opens all the doors herself and makes it difficult for you to do what you were taught to do. I think it also depends on what part of the country you are from.

In my experience women love it, simple things like opening doors, being considerate and polite, it goes a long way. Some are quite surprised initially.

Agreed. This isn't to say that no women like chivalry- I certainly appreciate it and think it's foolish of women to put down something that actually does benefit them. But, going to an all womens' college, I'm also often exposed to the kind of girls who act as if someone opening a door for you is the same as them saying "you couldn't open it for yourself," and they act as if they're being opressed. To them- obviously they don't know how to take advantage of a good thing...

Personally, I wouldn't pay for my date and I wouldn't want to date a girl who would want me to. Sets up a weird power dynamic where I somehow become the financially responsible one.

But, I'm glad to hold doors open and do other nice gestures like that.

I am polite to everyone. I don't act extra polite to someone because they are a woman. On a date I might act extra polite to try to impress, or I might be extra polite to people I care about, but it isn't a gender issue.

I think in general its pretty weird to talk a big talk about woman being equal but then expect this fairer sex treatment when it suits you. So yes women killed it but really opening your own door is a small price to pay to be viewed as equal.
