Choosing a new gaming monitor?

Im looking for a new monitor... my old CRT just isnt working out anymore. I have a eVga 7800 GTX if that makes any difference. Monitor NEEDS to be good for gaming, so if i go with an LCD there cant be signifacant ghosting. I didnt spend all this money on hardware and still not be able to play games the way they're meant to be played

well this is the one i think i have finally decided on...

the thing i really like about this one is a 20 inch resolution at 22 inches...great for my failing eyes

now we can both wait for responses by people that actually have lcd monitors

(oh and i would also say i really like my friend's dell 19 inch one --i forget the model number. )

The monitor mentioned above it crap, not only is it not fast, but it's also a 6bit monitor. I'd say get an 8bit monitor and 6bit if you're color blind. But that monitor listed above is probably the worst of both worlds..

I have a Dell 2007FPW and even tho its rated as a 16ms lcd I see no ghosting or blurring at all in any game.

Not much "positive" in that review. Just a good price. IMO, you get what you pay for.

Well to be honest, I'd say it's better for me to tell you what to avoid then to limit your options on what you can choose. It's like instead of saying to your kid what cities they can go to, you tell them where NOT to go.

I'm in the same boat as you are with $300ish budget. I'm going for the newer Acer 22" AL2223WD which has a bit of improvements from the prior AL2216WBD model.. Probably best bang for the buck for its quality and size. I have read hundreds of reviews on the prior model and did not spot a single negative comment.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 225BW. They go for about $400.00.

So far no problems and man is it easy on your eyes.

No. That is a 6bit monitor, not an 8bit... 6bit monitors are advertised as having 16.2 million colors while 8bit monitors are 16.7 million, trust me, ther is a large difference between the two.

I got the Viewsonic 22" VX2235wm at Costco for $300+tax. I'm pretty happy with it. No ghosting, pretty sharp and the colors aren't bad. I know it's not the best but for a $300 buy it suits me just fine.
