Christians responsible?

Considering the historical documented support of slavery,the crusades,systemic destruction of the American Indian, don't you think Christians owe finanical reparations to these oppressed groups? At the very least an apology for their so called christian behavior towards these minority and indigenous peoples? What aspect of the christian belief system allows and justifies this behavior??

This is considerable flamebait for a 5th post!

My answer: Although I am as atheist as they come, and I am amazed at how much of an over-generalization this is. I think the atrocities you mention were the responsibility of humans, not of Christians - incidentally some/most of the people involved may have been Christian.

It is hard, as much as I would like to, to blame the genocide of the American Indians on christians, That is an Euorpoean American shame. The American government essentially declared open season on Native Americans and encuraged the common Americans to kill, which apparently they did with glee. There is no way we can undo the damage done.
