So now that I won't even qualify for the game, which makes me even more angry. Does anyone has other postings of situation like this? Please give me a link. I think a few months ago, some one on the forums had bought drive and the wrong smaller size was inside the box. There's an article some where that manufacturers are using plastic packaging so you can see the product inside before purchasing, like Western Digital has done.
Thanks.

That is one bad situation.

This is why I like Western Digial & PNY. WD drives are now in clear packages so you know what you are getting. PNY has a little clear portion on the back of their box that has the model # showing.

Let me talk to my boss on Tuesday and see if I can do anything for ya. I should be able to get a ticket number and trace it back though. On products over $100 we get names and addresses for...however, they could have lied unless they paid with credit.

Yeah, it's called Magellan. I'm not really liking it as much as the good ole DPS though.

Same thing has happened to me at Best Buy before but I checked the box before I left the store, someone had stuck a GF2 inside a GF4 TI 4600 box.
If you notice on quite a few new cards being sold they actually have a bar code imprinted on the back, lined up with the card in the box that has the same code on the videocard to prevent this sort of thing.

CC is basically calling you a thief, that's B.S. that they are using your past returns as an example, if that was the case I'd be wanted for Grand Theft at Staples, CC, Best Buy, OD and OM for all my returns.
Sounds to me like the manager is trying to blame you for his employee's mistakes for being tools and not knowing how to verify what product is actually being returned.
Dispute it with your CC company.

They will take your side. They would rather eat the $377whatever than lose you as a customer for life.

You should've called them IMMEDIATELY after getting that in a furious rage. They would then also have no problems opening up the box for you to verify that what you are buying is in the box. I do that for EVERYTHING I buy now, after having purchased a PS2 from Walmart that was a "swap" from a modjob gone wrong, and when I bithced, they said that they don't allow returns on opened merchandise. I then showed them (it's not hard really) with some products I made them pull off the shelf, in about 10 minutes, how I couuld make the box look like it was brand new, never opened. Packaing companies really need to work out packaging that CANNOT be opened and repackaged. Like the new firewire cards are sold in the plastic stuff...that's easily recycled into napalm by our gov't.

Call up your Credit Card company ASAP and issue a chargeback. You'll get it.

Hello,
I don't think this is posible. They will only issue a disbute the if it does not goes right, they recharge it to you. I don't know if they will allow me the chargeback permanently.

I cannot dispute the charge until they show up on my credit card. I will then put it in. Do you guys think that I should report it to the Better Business Bureau so they can bring some heat so these things cannot happen more often?
Thanks.

I think it's needless to say this wouldn't happen at "Best" Buy.

i think it can happen anywhere the employee doesn't know what is being returned.

in which case they need to get employees that can tell a 9800 from a hole in the ground.

Thread title: Circuit City bad buy experience.

DUH.

Pot: Kettle DUH!
Did you even follow the convo or did your clueless baboon red ass stumble upon the middle of it?

God dammit, not again, I've had this happen to me. I bought a 300 dollar Compaq Ipaq PDA, when I opened it up, it was filled with sand. They thought I was crazy. After several weeks i checked up and they didn't do much. I filed a complaint on the BBB then finally something was done. They eventually gave me a refund after about a month.

Even at so called trusted retail B&M, it's still buyer beware.

The music stopped and you were the one without a chair. CC and the person who swapped the card got their seats ok.

When a product is not factory sealed or you suspect it isn't, always, always open the product before buying or just after with a sales person/manager watching over. These are hot items and you can easily be left holding an empty bag. You've got to be very careful when trying to do the right thing in this society.

Good luck in getting this resolved and I would also get the manfacturer involved too. And for the little that it may help, fill out a police report also; it may become important down the road with the credit card company or manufacturer.

Good luck!

There have been a ton of these horror stories. This is why I ALWAYS open the box and inspect the contents at the cash register.

I saw that it was packaged and did not think of it until I opened the package. Even if you were careful you some times will make mistake. This is just not good for me or anyone for that matters.

Hi,
What did you do? Did you file the complaint with the BBB at their website?
Thanks.

FYI, the package was sealed (at least that's what I read). Shrinkwrap machines aren't difficult to obtain. Always check stuff like that before leaving.

If the manager shot you down call and ask for the regional manager. When I worked at Wherehouse Music that was a sure-fire way for a customer to resolve the situation the way they wanted.
