when i try to configure the switch i use this command

set interface sc0 1 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/xxx.xxx.xxx.x xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

and get an error saying that invalid ip

when i just use this command

set interface sc0 1 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

it works but it only sets the ip address i need to set the netmask and broadcast.

also i wanted to configure the swicth so i can manage it via web, what is the command for that,

no web management with 2948g. You are using the correct syntax. Maybe you are using an invalid ip address/mask. what ip/mask are you using?

here's the syntax...

FC1-2948A> (enable) set int ?
Usage: set interface <sc0|sl0|me1> <up|down>
set interface sc0 [vlan] [ip_addr [netmask [broadcast]]]
set interface me1 ip_addr [netmask [broadcast]]
set interface sl0 <slip_addr> <dest_addr>
set interface trap <sc0|sl0|me1> <enable|disable>

ok instead of back / i just used blank space and it worked but now i have a problem setting the ip route gateway it says route exists but i want to change the ip route so i used set ip route default 168.168.132.1
and i get an error route exits
but when i do show ip route it says default is 168.168.133.1

catOS used on the 2948g/4000/5500/6500 is based on set and clear commands. you use clear to negate a setting or clear vlans, trunks, port, counters, etc.

here's the syntax. I'd recommend checking out the manual on ciscos web page and getting familiar with catOS. It is quite different than IOS...

FC1-2948A> (enable) clear ip route ?
Usage: clear ip route all
clear ip route <destination> <gateway>
FC1-2948A> (enable) set ip route ?
Usage: set ip route <destination> <gateway> [metric]
(destination and gateway are IP alias or IP address in
dot notation: a.b.c.d)
FC1-2948A> (enable) clear ip route ?
Usage: clear ip route all
clear ip route <destination> <gateway>
FC1-2948A> (enable) sh ip route

thank you right before you responded i saw the command in the manual on thw web, it's just i wa sin a hurry to get this configured, thanx much, even to change the console name the command was different, it was set prompt, i guess i need to learn new set commands for this small baby. thanx much.

yeah, once you get used to catOS you'll love it. way more efficient and better for configing and monitoring switches.
