I think that's being a little disingenuous. Hindsight is certainly 20/20 but Clarke's criticism of Bush is not mutually exclusive from Clinton failures. In as much that Bush could have done more during 2001 . . . Clinton could have done more during the 90s.

You didn't come away from that brief program with enough information about the Clinton adminstration to reach any conclusion that would be accurate regarding Clinton's alleged "failure" to go after AQ. We don't know who knew what and when. We are starting to get a much better picture of what Bush and Company knew and when and the picture is not pretty. As I've said before, this happens in every administration that tries to hide the truth and manipulate the facts. Too many people know what really happened to keep the truth hidden for long. And, then there is the always reliable BOOK DEAL.

But, if blaming Clinton makes you feel as though you are being "fair", please go right ahead. Is he on the November ballot?

Clarke went to Clinton in 2000, and told him to attack Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. Clinton refused.

Clinton should have gone after Al Qeada in 2000 when Clarke said to. Instead Clinton told Clarke he was going to let the next admin take care of it.

Hes blamed everyone but the Intel community. Even though the intel community could never pin point a location. There may not have been a cabinet level meeting, but federal agencies were debriefed about possible attacks in June and July of 2001.

Federal agencies were on alert for possible attacks. They were debriefed by the CIA in June and through July of 2001.

Well, I just watched the whole interview -- delayed for us left coasters

IMO, a very damning report on the Bush administration's inability to take terrorism seriously prior to 9/11 and their bungled response after. Bush & pals dropped the ball on 9/11 and yet they have the chutzpah to make 9/11 and the WoT the centerpiece of their re-election campaign. Man oh man, that takes huevos grande. I sincerely hope a lot of Americans reassess their view of Bush's handling of this country's security in light of this . . .

I don't think Clarke will be easy to dismiss either with a 30-year career working for Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton and now Bush Jr. As the terrorism 'czar' this guy really knew what was going on. It sure makes sense all of the administration's secrecy given what an abysmal failure they've been on virtually every issue.

Clarke claims Condi Rice did not know who Al Qaeda was before 9/11, which is quite false. Hes going to start running into credibility problems once people go through all his book and his past comments/interviews. I will say right now, from some of the excerpts I've seen, hes contradicting some of his past statements...

Oh by the way... The fact that Clark is releasing a book could'nt possibly have anything to do with the intervew... nah!!! must be just my bias.
